I have installed custom stereos for 15 yrs and had a system in my cars more often then not. The only time my vehicle was broken into was at a trailhead while I was mountain biking and the took my wallet and faceplate and bike tools. I found out later there had been a rash of thefts there that matched mine.

I have always had an alarm and always used it. AT the trailhead it was far enough out that nobody else could hear it but anywhere else it has worked. This alarm includes the regular siren, the horn, an interior siren and the big whammy that really makes people look is the mechanical siren(tornado siren). Between these, everyone with in a mile wants to know what is making that wierd noise. To the guy in the car(and I have had a couple of buddys try to crawl in the back window to mess with me) the interior siren will make you want to be somewhere else. Do not forget to add multiple leds, the back up battery and if you can afford it the prox sensor is always fun if you are not in the city.

Window film might make people wonder what you have but It is better than them seeing something in plain sight. Also it helps with the sun.

yes. just connect one side of it to a 12v hot wire, and the other side to your ignition wire. When the key is off the ignition wire will show as a ground and light up the light.

keeping your doors unlocked so they don't break your window is a stupid idea.

Why? So they can steal a slow a*s 96 GT? Like they couldn't bust out the windows and do the same thing.

no it's just not a good idea for the same reason i don't leave the door to my house unlocked so they don't break a door or window to get in, or why i don't leave my garage door open when I'm not home or at night. it just gives people an open invitation that wouldn't normally break in to just take whatever they want.

So, your theory is that people don't break into cars if they see that the doors are locked? I'm sorry, that simply hasn't been my experience as two busted windows have already indicated. The one time I kept my doors unlocked the 4 or 5 other cars in the complex had their windows smashed because of locked doors.

If you have nothing of value in your car, you really don't have much to worry about. I lock the doors of my apartment/house that contain items of value (unlike my car) in hopes that, if a burglar resorts to smashing a window in the middle of the night, it'll wake me up.

The only reason I'd lock the doors of my car is in the hopes that fellow neighbors will see someone bashing the windows and think it suspicious, but I've lived in several "neighborhood watch" type complexes/neighborhoods, and that's never been much of a detriment.

Anyways, to each their own. Whatever makes you feel safe.

In the end it your stuff and your car. If you feel safe leaving it unlocked then do it. I would never leave mine unlocked even with no valuables in it because then they could just take the car. I have already had 1 stang stolen and driven into a salt water canal. Not about to give an invitation for some knuckle head to do it again.

I didn't say locking the doors is going to deter everyone from breaking into your car but it will deter some especially in a populated area where breaking a window would be noticeable. The old Town Car across the street got "broken into" one night and they took some stuff out of it. I talked to the owner and he said well we had left it unlocked so then my first thought was well then no sh*t. My Lexus and my dad's '69 mach1 have been parked outside every night for 2 years and we've never once had anything happen to them and people don't go through our stuff in them because the cars are locked like any normal person would expect. Knock on wood of course but leaving the doors open is just an invitation to have someone rifle through your stuff, anything of value or not I don't want some assh*le in my car.

anti theft system is useless on 94-98's. The only thing it will do is keep the car itself from being stolen, the alarm is just a decoy.

and I'm sorry to hear bro. Granted I didn't get anything stolen, one of my coworkers backed into my roush leaving the parking lot last week... they're paying for it but damn I was pissed.

did you get the stomach in your underwear and then smashed into your throat feeling

I would have if my coworker didn't tell me what happened. she came in all teary eyed and sad, my stomach sank because I knew what happened, but, I mean, I have a really good friend in the paint business, he's only charging her cost of materials which is about $100, vs. the $1k she would have to pay. I think it also helps that she's hot and my paint guy is looking to get something extra hahaha. It was the rear bumper anyway so it's really not a huge deal, if it were 1/4 panel shed be suckin my nuts in the parking lot LOL

Is she HOT? Maybe she could back her a$$ into your dik?
