I bought my 95 GT about 8 months ago for 3,500$ with 130,000 miles on it. It was a great deal because the body was in perfect condition and even the paint job was amazing because it had never been drivin in the winter and just takin good care of i guess...But i sorta have a little problem. Ive been wanting to add so many things to my car like...new 18" chrome saleen wheels, new magnapack catback exhaust system, smoked headlights, tinted windows, new gears...etc. But I just now started to realize that my car now has 138,000 miles on it. Would it even be worth it to do any of this to my mustang? Maybe even just the exhaust?...or should i sell it over the summer and look for a GT or preferably a Cobra with much lower miles??? I dont know what to do!!! I want a mustang i can keep for a while and gradually add too. I deffinitly at least wanna put that exhaust setup on it because sound is the most important to me! I NEED ADVICE!!! :BangHead: HELP PLEASE :dontknow: any advice would be greatly appreciated  thanks

Once you start you will not stop.

Id say put the pacs on it with a x pipe and drive it for a while. Save a little dough and get the saleens and a lowering kit. Then start saving for the expensive part 331/347 stroker and HCI. If its running good I wouldnt worry about it crapping out on you, ive seen 5ohhs clear 200k miles with the proper maintenance.

Im in the same boat. I just bought a 95 GT and started going at it. I purchased a stock motor out of a 91 gt and had it bored .030 over oiled it up and bagged it until i can get the stroker kit. 1 thing at a time.

What Javi said! If it's paid for, you betcha keep it! Even love those wheels he said. I got mine in 17's, though! Have them on it tomorrow!!

Dents can be fixed, I say. Post up where you live, maybe members know a good body shop by you. You can also find which you belong to in the Regional Forums. Maybe ask in there. Fix it & keep it.

Ha, you're doing better than me.

If it runs good, keep it. If anything is wrong drivetrain wise, I don't know. I bought my 95 for $4k with 168000mi on it and every 2-3 months, I have to sink $500 AT LEAST into it for some little something going out. BUT when its all said and done, I'll have a car that looks as good as new, runs as good as new, for a lot less than new. But its just getting to that point haha

Keep it. I love not having a Car Payment. I only paid 1800 for mine and i wouldn't get rid of it just to get a car payment.

Keep it.. Mileage is like age it's just a number. Besides any 94-98 Mustang GT or Cobra is gonna have some miles on them even the 98s are over 10 years old now... And like others have said it's paid for... With the money you'd have in a car payment you could modify what you have to your likeing and if milage is a concern for you, you could put that money toward a performance engine build.

Well thanks for your advice guys! it really helps. Ill probably just keep it for now but another thing i have to think about and consider is that i live in michigan and we have bad winters :( i dont know if u guys knew but im only in high school and i graduate in about 6 more days. Im only 18 years old so i dont know if i can even afford having 2 cars. I drive the mustang everywhere and this last winter we had i drove my dads car almost every day cause hes retired...im going to need a car i can drive in the winter when i go to washtenaw next year so i still may have to sell it :(...but hopefully ill figure something out

Indeed, building your car is a somewhat ALOT more fun than buying an overpriced new car, that does not have the looks or the modifications that you would prefer. Therefore keep the car, and have an EXTREMELY fun time. My car almost has almost 200,000 miles on it... Only 130,000 miles??? Your doing very well. Just mod to your pockets extent... Muwahahahah

Just do it! And don't forget that it's your car, it's paid for, and the sky is the limit.... or maybe there is no limit.

All you need to do is store the car in a temperature controlled garage or lot. You can probably find a good deal on storage. I own a 1994 GT. Owned it since 1998. I store it every winter for about $100/month. Keeps the car is great condition and I can save the money needed to do new mods every year. Seasonal driving for an SN95 Mustang means your car can last forever. Temp controlled dry and zero wind storage is the key. Check out classified ads in the news paper. Or search the internet for car storage in your city. Car show people can probably steer you in the right direction to find a good car storage situation for the winter too.

Also an engine rebuild can usually find you an extra 100hp on the 5.0 engine. Usually it costs about $2000 less than a new engine would to have the engine professionally rebuilt. Knowing this you can keep these cars running forever. Available parts are endless and so many after market replacement parts can enhance your cars performance. Especially when aluminum parts replace stock parts. Aluminum is lighter, stronger and does not rust! Seasonal driving is the key bud when living in cold winter places! Your dad's car can give your SN95 Mustang eternal life!

You can afford two cars. Trust me. I own my 95 and a 67 I got as a graduation present ('09 BABY!). Riceslayer is in teh same predicament as you are and drives a rusty old Explorer in the winter. Just find you some cheap beater.

Keep it and throw a good motor in it. Keep the current motor as a spare. That way you can build a motor and still drive the car. Its your best bet...

why would he drop in a new motor, just to build the old motor? that makes no sense. if he was to go that route, he should just buy a new motor, and build that THEN put it in the car.

why pay for a new motor if he's just gonna pull it to put in the stock motor again when its built?
