ok well my father and i got under the mach today and nothing is wrong with the bellhousing and the cats are not rattling, theyre not cracked nothing. we took it for a ride tonight for about and hour or so through some backroads and he let me get on it a little but not too much. it was fun but when i would come to a stop the ticking noise that ive been hearing was rediculously loud. he said its just my engine coming back down to lower prms and that i shouldnt have it in neutral when i slow down and stop. so i put it in gear the next time and nothing changes. and now when i get to around 3500 rmps if i put the clutch in i get a high pitched squeaking noise which almost sounds like a turbo (go ahead and laugh). but my dad says its all normal and its nothing to worry about. well needless to say im kinda worried because i know for a fact that its not suppose to be doing that. so wtf is going on here? im gonna tell him that we need to just take it up to the dealership and have somebody with much more knowdlege about cars than us to check it out. this is bugging me.

If you push the clutch in and you hear a high-pitched squeaking noise, your throw-out bearing is going bad. I've had to replace one on mine before because of this.

Throw out bearing ftw! They can go bad different ways, the can make the high pitch squeal when pedal is pushed down or a constant squeak when pedal has no pressure on it(such like mine). Thank God I'm pulling the engine out soon, and the fact that Im not driving mine right now. The TOB squeak is SOOOO annoying!

yeah, that sounds about right. Just dont go to autozone or advance to get one. Order one online. I worked at autozone, and that was one our most returned item.

Make sure you get a OEM Ford throwout bearing. Don't go the cheap route or your gonna have to replace it again.

BUT in order to change the TOB you have to pull the tranny out...so you are looking at maybe $250 to $350 bucks for that lil bearing...unless you guys are capabale of doing it yourself. Does the noise go away if you apply pressure to the clutch a little? or if you fully depress the clutch?

Check out this mod...

As far as the rattle no idea..it could be anything, we need more info on what area it emanates from & under what conditions

it sounds like the passenger side of the engine bay. it doesnt matter if i drive it hard or easy but when i come to a stop there is a very loud rattling that only goes away once i start moving again.

What does the rattling sound like? Metal on metal knocking? Something loose wiggling around? Is it possible to get a video of the sound?

Pop the hood and take a look for the rattling. Could just be something loose and banging around.

i have no idea what it is. and my dad refuses to think that something is wrong. he honestly thinks that its perfectly normal for something to be rattling perfusely when i stop. a few weeks ago it just sounded like a metal to metal knocking but now its just an extremely loud ticking noise. he refuses to look at it, refuses to take it by a dealership to have somebody knowledgeable to look at it and its pissing me off. so now i have to replace a throw-out bearing (which he already said isnt the problem so we're not gonna go through the trouble of taking the transmission out) and im also stuck with all kinds of weird noises coming from who knows what in my car. great.

well if your daddy wants to be a butthole and not worry about it, drive it till it breaks and he can foot the bill to fix it

but even if he does have to pay for it i still dont want my car to go to waste. its the only car he's gonna buy me. if the mach 1 goes to waste that would be a shame and id end up buying my own sn95.

When your coming to a stop, or up to a stop light, its better to put it in neutral and coast. You can engine brake if you'd like but all it really does is eat up gas.

thats what i do when i come to a stop. i put it in neutral and push in the clutch and let it coast and i just use the brakes. what difference would that make if i didnt put it in neutral?
