SpeedCal Question

For those of you rnning a Brothers/DMP SpeedCal, does it matter if I use the hot wire on the accessory power outlet instead? It's so much easier because the big AODE shifter gets in the way. I can't get my speedo/odo to read at all much less right. It has just jumped up a couple of times. That is all I have gotten from it. Maybe I have to use the cig lighter wires? If so, is the hot wire the center post or the outer post? I would assume center.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Open it up and see if the red light comes on when you drive. Also the speedcal calculator on dallasmustangs.com does not work. I used the cig lighter wires which worked fine. PM me and I can give you specifics. What gears did you have before the swap and what gears do you have now?

It's a Dallas Mustangs/Brothers Speedcal. You have had problems with 'em? :(

I have 2.73s but it is getting 4.10s. I had an appointment to get the gears done yesterday but it fell through unfortunately. I only have insurance on it through tomorrow so it's parked for now. Pimpin the '94 Ranger full time. :thumb:

I've got the 2.73 code in the Cal, but it seems like even if I got it wrong the speedo would still move at some rate of speed. Instead it just "ticks" every once in a while.

Yeah, those dip switch settings are no good. Call Dallas Mustang and they will have you get on the highway and 0 your odometer, drive 10 miles according to the highway markers and record what your odometer reads then they will calculate the correct settings for you. Be careful what garage you take your car to for the gear install because allot of people are having trouble with garages screwing up the rear end, thats why I installed my own not to mention how much labor costs now. I went from 2.73's to 3.73's so I could give you my dipswitch settings but that will probably only get you within 10mph of the correct speed limit.

Thanks for the info on the bad dipswitch settings. Next day I have off I'll pop the cover off of the Cal and see if the LED is coming on. Does it only come on when you drive, or anytime the unit is activated?

As for the gearswap, I'm taking it to Texas Drivetrain Performance - Jason is a cool guy. He built my roommate's 10 bolt for his Camaro and we both ABUSED that thing with 4.11s. (150-200 5,500RPM clutch dumps on a McLeod and slicks). Of course 4.11s are the worst about shearing the teeth off of the pinion and 10 bolts are made of glass. :thumb:

:TY:

I'll let you know what's up when I get some time to debug.

Awesome, and yes the LED on mine only comes on when the car is rolling. If the car isn't moving it should not be sending any signals so that light should be off.
