speedo cluster help!!!!

i have a 95gt and the speedo just went out was wondering will all 94-98 cluster work being a gt or a cobra for my 95 gt.... need help and will it hurt the car by driveing with a bad cluster :dontknow:

What is exactly out? is it just the speedo or are all of the other guages dead too?
If it's just the speedo then it's probably the nylon gear on the back of the cluster.
I don't believe the 96-98 clusters will work in the 94-95's.

Drivign without a speedo won't hurt anything except for your wallet if you get a ticket. My speedo hasn't worked for a few months. I suspect it to be due to the gear but I haven't taken a look yet.

the whole thing seems to be dead..only the tach works. something has burnt up i can smell it when it happened i noticed that the clock was out and radio check all fuses and found one poped and replaced it

well can anyone tell me what years will work or am i stuck to 94-95 only need to know going to a salvage yard to day or going to pick one up from someone on craigslist

I am pretty you can use a cluster from a 96, but you have to change a few wires around for it to work. I put a 96 one in my 95 but I had the harness ends still in the 96 and saw that I had to change 2 or 3 wires around to get it to work. Hope this helps you out?

Take the 5 mins it takes to take the dash apart and check if it's the speedo gear. Here, check this out

i now its not the gear its something else cuz when it happen i seen a puff of smoke come out of the dash and when i took the dash apart to see what burt up i could smell it in the cluster
