theres a line on 0 and line on 10, both ways do the same thing, whether the gun is on 10 and using the 0* mark, or the 0 on the gun and 10* mark..i have my balancer marked on 0 and 10...timing is set i've used this gun to set the timing on it plenty of times before

Okay, is the balancer coming apart? Can you feel or see any rubber between the hub and outer ring on the engine side? If there is, the HB is shot and you cannot get a true reading.

well i said f*ck it and took my spout out and left it out..set it to 25* its not spark knockin so im leaving it..runs great..just need to figure out why when you first start it it will die unless you keep it running, go right down the rd then its fine...this happenes when it is warm...not when its cold and i first start it...already replaced iac and that wasnt it so idk

YES. You should not feel any rubber. Recently replaced or not any rubber that can be felt is a bad sign. This probably explains the timing issue. If the outer ring has moved the timing marks have no relevance.

Went to autozone, and got one....pulled my old one, it was bad, i could tell once i pulled it off, but it didn't fix anything at all....still shakes at idle enough to where you can see it in the shifter, and feel it, and see the motor shake....still have the starting problem, and still cant use the chip.

Well I drove the car a 128 mile round trip today. Check engine light flashed a few times, got home and read them..heres the numbers i got..

113
157
158
172
173
176
177
212
332

my egr vacuum lines are disconnected so i know thats the reason for one of the codes...

I cleaned my MAF the other day, prior to that I never got a MAF code...it had a little carbon build up on the side terminals...don't want to replace it unless i know thats what is causing my startup problem...i got a buddy that is gonna let me use the one off his car to check..

I just replaced the 02 sensors...no codes prior to that before i replaced them, i just went ahead and bought new ones and installed them....why are they showing up lean/rich..i think thats what a cpl of those mean..

spout is out, and timing is set at 23*..cant get it to run otherwise

Something is absolutely wrong with the timing. Borrow and use a different timing light. Base timing spec is 10* and you can usually bump that to about 14* without pre-ignition (pinging) under load. The PCM can advance timing about 26* above the base for a total of 36*.

What edge are you looking at on the timing pointer? It should be the long straight edge. On a recent post elsewhere the OP was looking at the edge where the semi-circle is and couldn't understand why the car was running poorly. Just a thought.

restabbed it twice, had a ex mechanic watch me to it just to make sure i wasn't doing anything wrong...I put it at TDC on compression stroke on number 1...marked number 1 with a paint marker, and made the rotor go to that line....

on 2nd thought..i will try to restab it since I got a new harmonic balancer, because like everyone said..if it was off then i could be a tooth off....thanks..will try that tomorrow and let you know.
