What is a better shifter to buy for my 98 gt. pro 50 or steeda tri ax. I have heard that pro 5.0 have an annoying straight bar, and the steedas are a little loud, although i kinda like that. Also if anyone has either that they are willing to sell, let me know. :drunk:

The Steeda is actually designed to not tear up that rubber boot over time. I just purchased a Pro 5.0 Short throw. I love the straight handle and the overall design. Get CobraBob's gaskets if you want to quiet the Steeda down some. The Steeda also has the shortest throw of all of them. I have heard that you may want to get a weighted knob to help make the shifting easier, but I don't know how true that really is.

no you dont.. there was one on my car when i first bought it.. got rid of it after awhile.. just not really a natural feeling for a manual shifter. doesnt really give you a good feel for the gears..

oh.. and it doesnt need red lock-tite when installing.. :hammer:

steeda tri ax ftw. i have one in my car and love it. the handle is adjustable too so you can set it at two different heights.

You can adjust the new orange handle MGW 360* for that perfect adustability.. O0 O0

Trust me, buy an MGW, you will not regret it. That is why you don't see too many for sale that are used, because nobody gets rid of them.

If i were to do it again, i would go MGW. I have a Pro 5.0, and can powershift it all day long, and i have driven a Steeda, and I really didnt like it at all. I say you try and get somebody around your area with a shifter and see if they will let you drive it.

That's why I did it right the first time.

Power Tower came with my car. Did not like it at first... then experimented with setup:

∙ Pro 5.0 hanfle mounted to the right
∙ Bought a Tri-Ax handle, mounted to right, somewhat of an improvement
∙ Moved Tri-Ax handle to left, much better, but was hitting the bezel knocking it loose every time I shifted into 2nd
∙ Went back to Pro 5.0 handle, mounted on the left instead of the right been good ever since

My dad had Hurst Comp. Plus shifters in all three of his 5.0's- I liked them- precise and well-defined gates. The MGW is a nice piece- my dad had one on his 04- I just think it brings the gates too close together (sometimes you'll mistake fourth for reverse, etc).

Some guys think the best setup is Pro 5.0 shifter and Tri-Ax handle- short throws and almost stock shifter length.

mgw is completely badass. i love it. will say nothing bad about it. will survive the hardest shifts and lay in gear every single time.
