It's time to replace the arms in my 96gt.
At 190k the bushings are wearing out.

I'm not doing anything crazy with the car that I need aftermarket arms. So what replacement brands are good or junk? lmr? rockauto brands?

^ thats a great idea considering your setup is stock. If you had or planned to install an aftermarket K-member, a set of cool arms would make sense.

I was going to go the replacement ball joints and poly bushings on my 95, but when I got it apart, the arms were so rusty I replaced them. I went with the Moog arms from RA, that was 3-4 years ago, no problems so far. I see RA carries Moog, AC Delco, and Mevotech, either of these will fine for you application. Mevotech is a fairly recent company, AFAIK, but everything I've seen of theirs seems to be quality stuff.

Ive bought many things Moog over the years, so its good the rep is still okay.

Bought them on Rockauto, just got a new discount code on my email - perfect timing.

Should have them this weekend.
cant wait to see new vs old.

Passenger side.

I got started yesterday since the parts arrived early.
PITA moving the steering rack to get the front bolt out, but otherwise it cooperated.

Im printing pictures and packing the boxes up. unfortunately rockauto does not appear to have a way to get a real human on the phone, only an automated computer form. ship them back, let them be inspected, hope that I dont have trouble getting store credit, and order another brand...

Please please Rockauto!

Those look identical to the no name brand we just installed in my son's car. He bought a kit that came with the control arms, inner and outer tie rods, and sway bar end links. I think the total was about $200 for everything.

Anyway, the arms were a tight fit going in. It seemed like they wouldn't work. But a big hammer and some cuss words got them in.

Bummer that the bushings are wrong. If your old ones were in better shape I would say go poly bushings. I did mine years ago and they are quiet, no issues at all.

the space between the bushings in the middle is 3/8" smaller than the originals.

if it were 1/16", I'd hammer it in. if I put these in, they'll be bound in whatever direction i hammer them in at.

then i wont be able to swing them low enough to get the springs in, and when i assemble the spindles they'll be bound in the other direction. that will destroy the bushings in no time.

Nope. i want parts that fit.

Wow, that's weird. When I replaced mine, in 2013, with the exact same part number Moog arms, they slipped right in, no beating and banging, no sailor like cussing, easy peasy. Looks like quality control has slipped a bit:eek:
