heyy guys i was wonderin what color i should do my tank straps?

white car i was thinkin white but then i would have to wash them all the time n shitt.

mayby silver?

or red? i dono bout red. i have red calipers.....

helpp!

i think they look good when they stand out. and mine are a tad bit rusty on the bottom. so im gunna go ahead and so em upp with some silver. ill have many pics tomorrow. im doin plugs/wires/tank straps/wash/buff/vac/ and then ill have a shatt ton of pics!

i actually took some fine sand paper and sanded some of mine the other day.it didnt come out too bad. but im deff doin the straps tomorrow

I sanded my whole tank down (straps and all) then I taped off the straps and painted the whole tank w/ black then taped off the tank and sprayed the straps with a chromeish paint I had laying around the house.

ya man thats what i planned on doing. what grit paper did you use on the plastic cover? did you just do it on the car as is?

and what was the temp you did it at. tomorrow in tewksbury ma its saposta be 45-55. it sucks i should of did it last weekend but i didnt. it was beautifull too.... im going to do it tho. im doing plugs and wires and mayby an oil change also so it will have a long time to dry.

also how many coats of bolth did you do? [how many black] [how many chrome/silver]

Aerospace 303 is great for detailing the tank cover. Use it on mine all the time. (Can also use on interior and some underhood pieces)

As for the straps- you could also sand them down to bare metal, clear and polish- Aaron's looks great though

I gotta say the ass end of Mystik's car looks really good that way, and I started off reading this thread thinking "why the hell would anyone want their tank straps to stand out?". All goes to show even a snob like me (that likes pretty much everything to look factory unless it needs to change to go faster) can be suprised from time to time. :thumb:
