It is going ot be bad ass though, but, people seem to prefer good looking over bad ass, so let's see how true that theory holds

LSx....that's all we talk about on here. Who in the hell came up with the idea to compare the LS1 to the 4.6? Makes no fucking sense.

Maybe we should start the new trend, just so we can make the 4.6 all-mighty God, to compare our widdle 281 to DC's 3.5L :thumb:

GM knows damn well they won't sell many Camaros. So it's no problem making them with big hp/tq #'s. Ford on the other hand, knows they are gonna be making a shit load of Mustangs. So, they balance out as much as possible to make it cost effective and affordable. Thus, why the Mustang is king. And why it will always make the Camaro/Firebird,etc. go under.

Exactly. And it's getting old.

Instead, why don't we say this...Ahem..

"Hey should I get gears or PI heads first?"

"Doesn't matter, either way you'll stomp that <insert car w/ smaller, less powerful engine here> to the ground"

I think it looks really good, GM did a good job with the retro look. I'd take one any day over the 05-08 Mustang, annnny day.

Without the Camaro and Challenger, there's very little incentive for Ford to push out thing's like the Bullit and new Hurricane motors as well.

You guy's seem to fail to realize, it's not that I'm all crazy in love with Chevy, it's that I'm disgusted with Ford. You can scream Cobra Cobra Cobra all day, but at the end of the day, it's still a limited production car.

The comparison is Camaro Z28 to Mustang Gt, because they are car's after the same market, they are in the same niche, they are counterparts. Which makes the comparison 2v to LS1 by default. It's currently 3v to LS2, ancd it will soon be 3v to LS3, LS7, and Hemi. And the 3v will fail. You'll finally get a big bore 5.0 4v, but we should have had that in 1996...Don't complain that it's not fair and ignore it, that won't make it go away, get to work. They can run, but they need help, and well thought out help at that.

Hell, be happy, at least we aren't third gen Camaro fans here, TBI FTMFL!!!! :hammer:

You make good points J.R. but when it's all said and done it's still stupid to say how feeble the 281 is to the 346. Like you say, I'm not a math whiz, but one of those #'s seem quite a bit bigger than the other. :dunno:

Long term, the only thing that will ensure sales for GM, is if they are behind it 100% They need to advertise it, keep it affordable, and educate their damn dealers about it (something Ford could stand to do with the Mustang as well).

Having no ad's, no press, a price north of 35k, and idiot dealers saying crap like "I wouldn't drive it in the snow, if you wanna stay out of the ditch..." "Or this one loves gas!!!" will kill it again.( BTW, I got bnoth those statement's from Ford dealers regarding the Mustang :hammer:)

And having the Camaro and Challenger around, will only help push Ford in the direction of more performance. It'll also help hasten IRS for every 'stang, since the media sissies just love IRS..

First couple of years at least though, Chevy and Dodge will sell every one they can build. I personally, would really like a Challenger, depending on the aftermarket support it get's.

My 97 was decent in the snow, 200 lbs of weight and common sense will get you far.

All the new car's, Mustang, Challenger, Charger, G8, Camaro, have stability control, yaw control, traction control, butt wiping control.... As soon as people hear RWD, they immediatly flake out about snow though. I think that every winter since the Charger has come out "I wonder if that old lady knows that's rwd..." Because if you asked her, she'd probably tell you FWD>RWD, lol.

A bigger part of what killed it, since it was only 3-4k over in price, was the fact that Chevy, never, ever advertised it. Not in print, not on TV, nothing. The last Camaro ad I ever saw came out in 1993 with the first 4th gen, and that was it.

Not to mention they were under contract to build them all in BFE Canada. GM killed, don't fool yourselve's, I was at GM when it died officially, if not publicly. They had no intention of replacing it as early as 1999...

I totally agree. Ford advertises the hecck out of the mustang. They instill the image into peoples heads (especially when i was young) that the mustang is the poney car. Heck thats probably where the term came from hense the name. :)

On another note i think the new maro looks sick. Ya'll have to addmit if it had blue ovals on it you would probably be ranting and raving about it. I am a lover of many cars. I happen to have a mustang (which i love) but you have to give them credit. It will probably be a blast to drive.

I would get one in black, add 20" deep dish black wheels, an after cat, cold air, cam, and tune and have the best of all worlds. That would probably put 440-450 to the wheels!

Ya'll may not agree witk me but GM is our closest to kin. Someday you gotta show some love. :happydrunks:

That is where the term came from. The Mustang was the first "pony car". The Camaro is also considered a "pony car"
