If you completely lost on where your timing is then start from the begining.
Remove the dizzy.
Set #1 piston to TDC. (HB should be pointing at 0, Both valves are closed)
Install dizzy with rotor pointing to #1 spark plug wire.
Pull spout, start car and set to 10*btdc timing.

hey bro thatnks alot. i did everything you said. i put balancer to 0, pulled out the distributor to put rotor towards #1 spark plug wire.. then started car and didnt want to idle. so i advanced it to it idles normallly.i dont have a timng light so idk what the timing is. the guy who had the car before me said he had the car tuned with a chip. would ths be the reason for it not wanting to run at 0 degrees? i rele want to get the most pwer out of my na 347. i have all the back up mods like exhaust full eldebrock intakes, full msd ingnition. i also have autlo platiums 3923.. let me know guys thanks

base timing for the 5.0 is 10*btdc I'm running 12*. Anymore and id starts to ping. That could be cured with higher octane gas, But that is usually only good up to 14*.
I'm not sure what the timing would be on your 347 but I would think it should still be @ 10* anyway

get a timing light and set it to 10?

most tuners will adjust total timing in the tune itself, basd off the car having 10?BTDC timing

ya go out and get a timing light, you wanna be safe and not run too high of timing. They are cheap and you'll more than likely use it more than once. I believe oreilly's auto may also loan them out, but cant remember
