tires rubbing

i just put 285/40r18's on my saleen wheels, car is unlowered. well it rubs on the inside when i hit dips on the interstate, then i just came up the drive way and it sliced the sidewall curve tread some. maybe a set of wheel spacers? or roll the rear fender/lip?

I would assume you mean the outside sidewall and not the inside, putting a spacer on it will bring it further out and even worse wouldn't it?

what brand tires? I have heard that the are a little different from each other.

The funny thing about factory springs is they give up more travel than lowering springs so some times its better to lower it to give a firmer response. If you are wanting to keep the car as is I would roll the fender lips and hammer the inner fender wells in to give it clearance.

yeah i thought about hammering the lip over. and as far as lowering it i plan on it, i have the springs just want to do all the suspension at once. i need shocks, cc plates, rear control arms so i can ditch the quadshocks. i may pull the wheels and hammer the lip tomorrow. maybe tape the exterior and use a wooden block as a backer?

mine is lowered with 315/35-17 and it cuts into the tire if i turn sharp or at an angle i have 10.5 deep dish bullits in the rear with almost a 1/4 in spacer and my fenders need to be rolled and saleens don't have much offset do they i would think some spacers but i have never dealt with saleens although i would like to

they are 9.5's not sure of the rear offset, my dad showed me that eastwood has a fender roller for 269, looks like a quality piece! btw they are goodyear eagle f1 supercars

i would def say roll the fender if possible i have nitto555s and you can see where the fenders cut into them like a knife i need em rolled bad and i love the way the f1 super car tires look i bet they look real good on saleens

I also run a 10.5 17 out back, but no spacers. Why do you need a spacer?

it looks very aggressive, the wheels are powdercoated mirror black with candy purple faces. really sick lookin car now. ill go do a photoshoot soon, my dad n i are putting our cars in a show weekend after next, so maybe then at latest.

if you are cutting the outer edge of the tire on the fender I think I would tryit with out the spacer to see if you need to modify the fenders and buy a tool to do so rather then just take the spacer out?

Roll the fenders, adding spacers will just cause it to cut the tire in a different location if nothing else is done to it. Must be something w/ the back spacing of those rims. I run 17X10.5 Cobra R's in the rear with 315 Nitto's and I dont rub anything, not even on the quads when I still had them on

I did my fender lips myself without a roller.. used a body hammer, vicegrips, wood, cloth.. very carefully. worked good.. only took about an hour.. problem fixed.
