You could do mirror black. Candy red translucent would look bitchin too. Copper translucent would look cool methinks.

Update

June 16, 2009 -
Well, I just got back from dropping my motor off at Dennis Wells Racing. Dennis is a super nice guy, very considerate and he explained everything he saw wrong right off the bat. So, im a bit bummed out because my crank is ground a little lower than he would like for a boost application. So im going to take the crank out of the other engine to take to him. He also said the rod bearing that spun may have oval'd out the rod so I may have to replace one of the rods as well. But, i feel pretty good about where things stand. Dennis is gonna help us out with this and get us all set up. So the motor should be ready shortly and hopefully back on the road. Ill get more info for you guys tomorrow when I go back to drop the crank off!

What kind of porting only costs $300?

just to debur the runners on the flow bench or w/e because there was a lot of air turbulance. not like porting and polishing. that was going to cost me 800 dollars to port and polish which i can't afford.

Cool deal man, good luck. Is the white Cobra the car that your current motor came out of?

Re: Trey "TxCobrA98"'s Forged Internal Rebuild + Vortech

yeah the motor that spun the bearing (the newish one) came with the white cobra, it was never in the car when we got it.

Also, I just ordered my high volume stock replacement oil pump and pickup tube from Lethal Performance. Everywhere was out of stock so they called Ford Racing and it will be here tomorrow. Its coming out of Houston which is only about 230-250 miles away so whooo!

UPDATE

June 30, 2009
Well, didn't really do anything today. I picked the motor up yesterday and it looks brand new. I picked the block, crank, pistons, rods, gasket set, main bearings and rod bearings. The heads are being pocket ported and cleaned up and i should get them back later this week. Today, I went and picked up a new ARP harmonic balancer bolt because i was using the silver bolt that came stock with the motors, which are prone to failure apparently. I also dropped my valve covers, timing chain cover, and upper intake off at ace powder coating to have them powder coated satin black. I think it it going to look awesome. I will be powder coating the pulleys and smaller things myself. I think ill do the pulleys silver. Should look good i think..

Anyways, I should be building the short block tomorrow morning. More updates to come regularly, starting tomorrow! :headbang:

UPDATE - Engine Reassembly Begins!

July 06, 2009
Okay, sorry for the lack of update and pictures even though none of you are following it. haha i will admit its a pretty boring build up but finally things are coming together! So, where does the rebuild sit at right now?

I currently have the short block together. I am just waiting on the heads to be finished to complete the engine! I believe I am picking the heads up tomorrow, so not much longer! :headbang: Anyways, heres the pictures with captions. Enjoy!

and another shot

rebuild65.jpg

new high volume oil pump from Ford Racing

Now, for some dress up!
Let me explain a couple things. The parts were powder coated satin black, I wanted a nice clean look. The materials he used to cover up the plaques from "discoloring" or melting off in the oven actually baked onto them which is why there is a gold finish on the plaques. So i got some nail polish removed and removed all of the gold material baked onto the plaques. It also took the lettering off of the engine builder plate but i think it looks pretty clean!

dressup01.jpg

engine builder name plaque - "SVT" being painted red

dressup02.jpg

cobra masked up to remove the surrounding gold stuff lol

dressup03.jpg

lunch. thanks mom! :headbang:

dressup04.jpg

heres how it looks now, i think it looks pretty cool with the gold left on there.

dressup05.jpg
