also...on this note...I have decided that at some point in the future i want to go to a carb setup....anyone know how expensive that swap is and how difficult it is/what it entails?

ok...so here's the deal so far. it's a roll cage shop that so even though it's messed up on them...I'm not holding them to it because they don't have the ability to do it. stanger banger...we've met before so if you pm me your # we can talk more. ok so the car....checked inertia switch and it was fine, car seems to be getting fuel....not spark, pulled a plug wire and put another plug in it...didn't get anything. the msd ignition box is getting power....BUT seems that where it supplies power to the coil it loses it where the wires splice out to the coil and to the factory ignition. if you guys are following me. Car has a new dizzy, new coil, new ignition module from the issues i had before. they said that it died mid moving it around after running for about a minute. I had this issue before where it would do that. replaced the dizzy after the coil and ignition module and it was fine for a few months till now. I'm not sure where else to go with it. when i hook up the factory ignition to the coil and take the msd box out of the equation still no start. I'm thinking i might just remove the msd setup completely as it didn't make a huge difference anyways. i'm not making huge #'s or anything. if i do that...it's just connecting all the factory ignition back up and finding the issue causing no spark and it should be good hopefully right?

Correct. I've never noticed a difference with an MSD box. More problems than anything with mine in the past.

Also, why switch to a carb setup? It's not a performance increase and you'll dump money into just the swap. For those carb fan boys, I know people make power off of switching to them. But 95% of the time it's because they go from a crap fuel injected intake to a flowing carb intake.

As far as doing the swap, I don't know prices anymore as I stick to modular stuff now. but the swap is straight forward. Remove old intake/fuel/etc. Replace with carb style.

The hardest part will be jetting the carb appropriately.

mostly the idea is so I don't have to deal with this ignition bullshit that i am so tired of dealing with on this car. right now i'm just gonna get rid of that msd and go from there.

Was the distributer a new one or a reman? Remans are known for having the PIP (Hall Effect Sensor) fail as the old one may pass on the initial test and then fail shortly thereafter.

I would probably verify the distributor as well, you could have shredded a gear, or the PIP is toast. It can be the TFI as well, although I dunno how the MSD interfaces to this stuff. Not sure if what they're telling you about it dying is true or not, they still may have fried some electronics while working on it.

Carb FTL, EFI is much better all around. It can be frustrating, but figure a systematic troubleshooting method and you'll find the issue.

Have fun on track! One step closer to race car. :)

Did the new dizzy have a brass or hardened gear? If not it is possible the roller cam destroyed it andnow it will not make contact with the cam.

i'm not sure what kind of gear it had. didn't think to look at it before I installed it. it lasted a decent amount of autocrosses before it was gone. as for the cage cost...he owed me for stuff so he did the cage, seats and harnesses. so....idk the exact amount really. lol. i will get some pics up when i get the car back and running. can't wait to get it going again. as for the msd...i'm officially pulling it...it's just another step in the trouble shooting process and for the minimal gain i get out of it...not worth it.

I'm sure you can fix it after I show u what's wrong but your basically paying me to diagnose the car with the equipment I paid over 5 grand for lol .. But I am crazy busy with my business so I would need 2 or 3 day heads up first and cash will work also ..
