Obviously not that much of a tightass if you're gonna blow 12 grand on a pickup truck.

Get the fox. It's nicer anyway.

Its hard enough to spend the money on the truck but ive wanted it for over 10 years now and thats why im throwing that much into it. You dont own a lightning so I dont expect you to understand,....its NOT just a " pickup truck"

And as for the fox being nicer that may be your opinion, but its not mine.

It has four wheels, a bed, a cab, and is shaped like a pickup truck - so it is indeed a pickup truck. LOL :tongue3:

You're right though, I don't understand. You could have one hell of a fast/nice car for what you're spending on that thing.

I think for that kind of coin I'd have a nice Porsche Cayman with a turbo kit.

Either way, do what makes you happy. If it's the truck, then go for it. If it's a fox, then spend $5K less on the truck, and do the fox. Or, do a bunch of work on the truck yourself, save the $5K in labor, and do both.

You dont see the uniqueness in owning a 4800lb barn door that will run 10s??? And the Lightning is much nicer than a fox and thats my opinion. Im not knocking fox cars hell I do want one. But comparing it to a Lightning in terms of overall construction is a joke. Fox cars are for people who want to go fast easy and relatively cheap.

There is no cheap way to go on a built lightning, they cost and cost BIG. But in return you get a engine that produces in excess of 700+hp and can ( with traction ) put your heavy azz " pick up truck" well into the 10 second zone. That is pretty damn nifty in my book. I could spend a grand less, but I would be sacrificing about 50-80rwhp by doing so other than that there is nowhere to cut any money from the project. ( and that would be getting cheaper heads )

Im not a mechanic and never claimed to be, im leaving this to the pros and what some would call the BEST lighting shop in the country....Johnny Lightning Performance they put out more 10 / 9 / and 8 second trucks than any other shop in the world. Ill stick to turning wrenches on what I specialize in air conditioners and leave the engine work to those who specialise in that field.

Im going to call the owner tomorrow and play a little 20 question with him to see if the car is what is being represented correctly. Then I will go from there....

I definitely see the uniqueness, I just don't see the point. If you're trying to go fast, there are much better alternatives to a pickup truck.

Do what you want man. If that's makin' a pickup truck fast, then more power to you. I'm just saying, you can ALWAYS dump money into the truck. You don't ALWAYS have a really clean foxbody come along that fits what you want.

Im not trying to go fast, thats not what building the Lightning is about. I know there are cheaper ways, hell I could buy a 8k street bike and stomp any mustang or truck. Its about getting the truck to where I wanted it when I first bought it. There are a ton of other Lightnings in the 10s and I want mine to be in with the rest of the built trucks. Its a lot cooler to have a 10 second truck than a 9 second mustang IMHO. Fast mustangs are a dime a dozen, fast trucks are harder to come by. Im not really intrested in racing the fox, I just want one for a week end driver really.

If you're trying to run 10s, then you're trying to go fast. If it wasn't about that, you'd still have a 14 second truck.

tisk tisk, if your going to quote times quote them correctly, 13 second truck :nono:

:tongue3: :tongue3:

I think low 12s is pretty fast given the weight I have to work with. Going 10s puts you in the top elite of Lightnings.
