get some better tires under there and get your 60' down and you could get on the 14's

OK, it's a start. Bettering those 60' times can get you close to 14s easy. Did you note at what rpms you were leaving the line and where you shifted at? Loose the extra weight in the trunk, make adjustments for next time and improve not only the 60' but everywhere else. It is way fun and can't wait to get back as well, just a looong ride for me just to get to a track :(.

Re: Went to the Track yesterday.

Yeah Im like an ultimate square when it comes to drag racing..I wasnt really raising the rpms at the line because i didnt want to break something....I was kinda just taking off from idle....but i wasnt really slipping the clutch so I would spin alot off the line. Its really fun once I do hook cause you can really feel it just begin to pick up speed....Yeah they were 15 second times, but man it wasnt long enough.... Too much fun man. Im gonna do the rear end fluid before next time I go to the track, and try some higher rpm launches while slipping the clutch out.

Re: Went to the Track yesterday.

the 60' times were killing you, if you can pull off a 1.9 or even a 2.0 60' you should be in the 14's all day. You definitely need to be launching from higher than idle though. 2k-3krpm launch slipping the clutch out would easily improve your times, and if you're on street tires i HIGHLY doubt anything would break, unless something is already on it's way out.

Yeah I think its comin down to needing more power and suspension, because those 2.1's I cut were with ZERO tires spin..just hook and go. My suspension is all stock except lowering springs and some basic shocks in the rear, I think the front struts are stock though. Im sure the suspension is a lil tired.

Also what is a good point to shift this car at? It seems like it all but dies after 5000, but I tried 5500 cause I heard that was a good shift point, seems like a did better at 5k.... The gears are soooooo damn long though. I cant wait until I get some 3:73's in here.

With a stock motor Id say stick closer to 5200. But yeah it may get a little better but its time for some more go fast parts. :)

Congrats on the updated times. Sounds like you're getting the handle of it with those 60' and 3020 numbers. Now the push/drive to drop those numbers even more begins. Some well ordered PI parts (PI cams/Intake) or full PI headswap and/or gears will drop those times like a rock. Nice runs.

yeah, a stock 5.0 falls flat on its face at 5001 rpm... Shift at like 5200 or 5100 and you'll be good I think. How do you like the overall experience of drag racing?

Suspension, tires, and full bolt ons. These cars can go high 13's at full weight. Or you can gut it like me and go 12's w/ the same mods.
