You and me both but im waiting on a few things from my painter before i can get her out. I was contemplating putting a new top on it myself but i may just get her on the road and have someone do it for me. As of now i just havent made up my mind on that so only time will tell. I also have a few OCD issues i need to address but all those issues i will do once shes out and about. My plan is to get some street tuning in before winter and then pick at the little stuff along the way. So you should see pics incoming soon.

Replaced both lift cylinders for the convertible top yesterday. Not too bad a job, 2 people makes it much easier. Sometimes the top doesn't stay where you need it to for the top bolts to go back in. Extra person helps to hold it up. Reservoir plug is a PITA to get out and in. Took longer to clean up all the leaked fluid than to install.

I went out to a cars & coffee today because I haven't been to one in years.. the actual event was pretty good but we're at like a 250+ air quality index right now so I don't think any of us did our health any favors. Unfortunately my power steering pressure hose exploded - it's a Volvo S40 electric pump which is supposed to have a bypass at 1800psi and the hose is a Fragola 6AN teflon lined hose rated for 3000 working / 12000 burst. Well, it burst and I made a big nasty mess unfortunately. Nobody was mad, I was still embarrassed and didn't have a way of cleaning it up. Driving home with a manual rack wasn't all that bad.

Been trying to fix the ac in the 01. I swapped in a new ccrm, checked all the fuses, moved the ground to a more suitable spot and swapped the ecu for the correct one as apparently Ford made some changes to the ecu for 01, including moving the ac controls to the ecu. Welp I’m still not getting 12v to the compressor with the low pressure switch jumped. I’m quite irritated at the moment.

Where along the line did it burst? More hose or more fitting area?

Do you hear/see the clutch disc on the front of the compressor cycling as soon as the low pressure switch is jumped?

It blew the fitting off the rack end. The crimp shell around the hose is steel & I expected that to be plenty. I figure that my best bet is to just bring the hose to a hydraulic shop locally and ask them to build me one that's rated for the impulse load of hitting the steering stop. For the sake of clearance and having the hose routed cleanly I need a 45 degree 6AN at the rack end which limits some of my off-the-shelf options, particularly when I also need it to be 19-20 inches to avoid having a bunch of random spaghetti down there. I had a spare 24" hose (same grade as the one that failed) and installed that just for the time being and it looks goofy with even just the extra 4" because the teflon/braided hose isn't very flexible.

Do you have a pic of the aftermath or at least a stock photo of the hose fitting you're using?
I ask because hose ends that are classed as 'power steering' are typically standard length on their backshells which to me has always been a no-go. The P/S hoses and hose ends I've used for many years are Earls (Earls is probably at the very highest of the top tier brands out there, FYI), and their backshells/sleeves are extended length due to the high pressure of hydraulics. I never liked the look of most teflon-lined hoses as well as the hose ends they expect us to trust with use in these type of fluid systems.

After 26yrs driving the Cobra, it finally got to my nerves. I'm over the left clutch foot wiggle to get it to the side without twisting or moving back to put my left leg/foot at rest after shifting. I took action and moved the clutch pedal arm 1/4" closer to the brake pedal and massaged (with porta-power) my outer footbox aluminum, to accomodate my 10.5E tennis shoe past the pedal pad in a more comfortable way. Overall, I gained the needed 3/4" space and peace of mind and comfort. Mind you, this is only driving with my tennis shoes, my race shoes don't pose this problem. I almost feel human again.

Note the small bend above the pedal pad.

New intended position of arm.

Got it closer by 1/4"

Final fitment. Have a nice structural crease in aluminum outer wall to keep it in place.

I should have ample room now. Did a live test and what a difference!

No it does not cycle at all.

The error was mine, I did not consider the shock load. The pressure relief in the electric pump is supposedly anywhere from 1200 to 1800psi and the hose is quoted by the manufacturer to be 3000psi working / 12000 burst but I don't think that includes the impulse pressure of hitting the steering stop where the inertia of the pump, inertia of the fluid and inertia of the bypass valve are all fighting over the same millisecond of time.

Now I know to look for that, lesson learned.

I feel for you. I'll never get rid of my S550. They're just so badass. Shelbys are so expensive now. I almost got one before the GT, but the dealer said it was a going in for a recall, so I moved on.
