I think it's pretty close to 3400 and about an extra 20 or 30 pounds for a Auto. The Vert i think weighs about 200 more. That should be pretty close anyone chime in here.

holy sheet

yeah, thats what i said, when i say stock to the tires I really do mean it was stock to the original Goodyear ZR1's from the factory, auto convertables are heavy, but now since i did work to the car, it now weighs 3,165 pound w/o me in it and theres a lot more i'll be ripping out over winter

What are you willing to spend? Carbon fiber body parts, seats, ac, radio, rims, wing, exhaust. Whats your goal?

I've had my car on the scale. Short of leather, I have every option on the list. It's a coupe with a manual transmission. Stock with full tank of gas, it was 3340lbs.

How can i lighten up my 98 vert?

buy a non-vert.
seriously.

don't even bother. you mind as well start building a racecar out of a 91 Honda. Same concept - if you start with a pile of shit, you're just going to end up with a polished pile of shit. Not calling your car shit, but you get the idea. Get a coupe. Lighter, stronger chassis.

Better yet, start with a different mustang. s197 for road course/autox, foxbody for drag racing.

To start with there is the notorious 25 lb ballast somewhere in the Vert's. Other than that, audio system, if stock doesn't weigh that much. Maybe 20 lbs at the most. Not worth not having tunes if you ask me, but your call. We have a whole list of stuff for weight reduction on here somewhere. Check the stickies.

haha, thats why i like my race car... I run NASA (west coast) With the C.M.C. ( Camaro Mustang Challenge) class. so my car is maxed out as light as possible. (3150) , with alot more i could take off.
