What do you think this will sound like?

Well, I was able to pry some money away from the wife so I could get some exhaust stuff. I bought MAC chrome shorties ($170 shipped) and a Flowmaster American Thunder catback ($220 shipped). I have an offroad x pipe on the car now with a stock catback with the tail pipes cut off (real classy LOL). What I bought wasn't my first choice for an exhaust setup but I hope it sounds decent and gives me a good excuse to fix my exhaust leak. I have searched high and low across the interwebs for exhaust clips and form what I can tell, most people run an H-pipe with Flows. I guess the X-pipe will make it a bit raspier? Louder maybe? I'm not worried about being too loud. I did have a Cobra with an offroad x-pipe and SLP LM1 catback. Anything short of a nuclear blast would be quieter than that SOB was LOL.

I know lots of people run Flows on here. Most other people will roll their eyes and say "Another 5.0 with Flows? Puuuleease!" I know, I know... But given my current financial situation, it was the best I could do for the time being. My buddy had a '97 GT with Flows and an H-pipe. It sounded really good. He lived across the street from me and would rattle my windows when he started it up.

So, bottom line, will it sound decent? Like a true 5.0? What do you guys think?

I wouldn't worry man, it's gonna sound good. Yeah X will be more raspy, a lot like my Pro Chamber was I imagine.

I run H pipe with Flowmaster 40's and I love em!

o/r X will be raspy no matter what setup you have. Here's my car with o/r dr. gas x and flowmasters, mac 3" tailpipes:
94 GT exhaust clip

and here's the car with dr. gas x with high flow cats welded in, and a pypes violator catback (turbo style mufflers):

in conclusion, it's alot less raspy with chambered style mufflers like flowmasters and mac's. but it's louder at idle. with turbo style mufflers like magnaflow, slp, pypes, etc, it's quieter at idle with a slightly different tone but at WOT it's pretty freaking loud.

DFG, your car sounds amazing with the Flows.... What model are you running in that first vid? The model of American Thunder I got doesn't have polished or even chrome tips (that's why it was so cheap hahaha). How hard was it to fit the Mac tail pipes to it? It looks really good! :thumbsup:

I can't wait for my exhaust to get here... My headers got here Friday, but it looks like the catback is still a couple of weeks out...
