I've got this whining noise, at about 40-and up. I think its cause of the rear end, it comes from back there, and its not the tires.

any help is appreciated.

my backlash was off when i bought my car...

i flushed the fluid and all sorts of metal came pouring out... ...

mine made the whine at all speeds, at all times.... at one point it was so loud it sounded like a little kid screaming in my back seat, i had to pull over on the side of the highway to rest my ears....

lol. its all good.. :p: i know you probably hear alot of v-tak in that spaceship of yours...

what really angered me about my gear whine, was i asked the HEAD tech at the ford dealership about it...

and he said QUOTE -UN-QUOTE:
"It's supposed to sound like that."

keep in mind, i was 17 and this was my first car i bought... so of COURSE i trusted the HEAD TECH.

i get it home and drive it around for a few months... and my neighbor comes over (he's a big hot rod guy) and he's like:
"I've been waiting for months for you to come offer me a ride..."

anyways, he gets in and i pull out of the driveway, make my first turn and hes like "your rear end needs work".........

...

considering i traded in a 1996 V6 mustang with a (few) blown mains, i figure i might as well leave sleeping dogs lie... they screwed me, i screwed them.... whatever. lol.

It sounds like wooooooooooooooooooo when I'm on the gas at about 35mph and up. I just replaced the fluid about 2 months ago. But the car doesn't get driven much. It kinda makes the noise when I'm coasting but gets louder as I
Get on the gas

I have a bad whine but I think it's my tranny because it sounds like it's coming from the shifter. I can't wait till it explodes haha.

If you have ever driven in a jeep wrangler with mud tires or one was driving next to you...it sounds like that but inside the cabin. My pinion flange was wobbling so I tightened down the nut and it made the noise even louder ( too much pressure on the crush sleeve) anyway, I kick myself for saving my stock rear...I had no excuse to borrow money from the rents to rebuild my 4.10 rear :( (Unemployed at the time)
