The reason i ask is i didnt know that the c6 z06 got 26 mpg thats insane coming from a 427?? Most v6 cars dont get that Is it possible to get gas mileage like that with a tuned 427 Small block ford?? or does that have everything to do with technology.

(Please dont bash me for bring up chevy lol)

well, it has alot to do with the efficiency of the engine, so the cylinder head design, bearing friction coefficients, windage and crankcase pressures, camshaft design etc. the list goes on and on. another aspect is the engine management, and yet another is the drag coefficients of the drivetrain, the body as it cuts through the air, and how heavy the car is, what the gear ratios are, etc.

and I wont bash you for liking Chevy, I own one. the new ZR1 is my latest dream car........

a turbo car can get better mileage than a non turbo, but its also hard to stay outta the throttle.......

Well of coarse if you got a v8 you dont care about mpg but in a way you do.Where did you get turbo from ha ha only reason i consider f/i is because of gas mileage from big cubic inche motor isnt all that great ha ha but 26mpg from a stroked 351 would change my mind anyday.

Alot has to do with how you drive it. But also (pretty sure, but not possitive) I think the corvette is a bit lighter than our cars.

last time i checked on the highway was real close to 27 with the a/c on and making over 700 rwhp... 331

a lot of it is in the tune and i have spent a lot of tuning / data logging my vacuum areas to get it to where i wanted

Im familiar, ive played with one on my car. the most I had it working was 4 days, they kept frying eprom chips, or so the warranty guys said. I got my $$ back, and now Im going Megasquirt 2, cuz its within my budget, and I can use my stock wiring. the setup I have now is nearly impossible to dial in. the 94-95 computer is hardheaded.

Cheap-ish. Ah well, it was freakin' fun to daily drive. It was a tire shredding machine. LOL

I don't know if things have changed since I ran Megasquirt, but last I remember it did not have closed loop maps. So you're always in open loop. Sure, it may be great for performance, but gas mileage and daily driveability suffer big time. Freaking Megasquirt pretty much ruined my Turbo Corrado project.

I can put down 23 mpg with my turbo 331 at 611 rwhp on stock computer with SCT chip. I also am 5-speed with 3.31 gears. Very true about the tune. I have 40+ dyno pulls thus far, the car idles great and WOT is insane.
