i have a 96 GT 5 spd. its bascially stock only mods are
Mac catted h pipe
Mac catback
70mm throttle body
trickflow upper plenum.

i just bought a PI intake manifold and i want to use aftermarket cams. But which ones are the best ? what kind of power increase will i get versus using the PI cams? is it worth it? Is it alot harder to install aftermarket cams then PI cams? as far as degreeing and timing and such.

i'll go ahead and jump in here on this..

dude just to get it stuck to your mind go to youtube and type in vt stage 1 and vtstage 2 to listen to idles.

i'm about to get a pi intake manifold too so i'm curious also. i've heard that pi cams are a slip in deal with no degreeing or timing issues. but whenever you get aftermarket stage 2 or 3 cams you have to degree and grind and shit like that. whenever i do it i want a basic deal.

but my mods are pretty basic too...

With stock NPI heads you won't be able to run aftermarket PI cams without offset retainers. For aftermarket NPI cams i would go with Crower NPI's or some Comp 262h or 268h both are for NPI...you should degree them but they are low lift so i doubt you will have any ptv as long as you install them straight up.

The Crowers will probably pick up 10-20hp over the PI cams which is good but not alot of hp for the $$$$

yea thats true, +1 to what Drop said. I'm kinda stuck on it, since everyone on here likes to keep the npi heads and jump to pi cams and intakes. I would go for the whole pi swap. If your gonna do the intake and cams, why not spend another 300/400 dollars and get some heads and get them swapped out and you will have a better flowing head "stock for stock" and the added boost of 1.5 Compression ratio... which in itself makes a very nice idle. :) , should be a killer ride too.

Ps. I think your car is hot dude, i really like the color and the set up. Sweet.
