i got a 95 mustang gt convertible 5.0 and im not sure which intake to go with. i want something that is deffinently worth the money. the mods i got now are bbk shorty headers, h-pipe into dumped flowmaster 40s, bbk cold air intake, 70mm stack racing throttle body, 70mm poweraid throttle body spacer, smog delete, msd cap and rotor kit, underdrive pullies, and it has been chipped and dyno tuned, and a set of 3.55 gears which i havent installed yet . im planning on going with a e-303 cam and a set of aluminum pro comp heads later on probably in the summer. so for now i just want a good worth the money intake that is good on my stock heads and will be good on the aluminum heads

i used a tubular GT40 with my iron GT40 heads and my aluminum TFS heads. i loved that intake, it was a torque monster. I felt like i almost had more torque from that motor than i do from my stroker

gt40 will be fine. If you want more you can buy an extra lower( for around a bill) and have it ported for when you go bigger.

I have my TFS FS and then that way you will have room to grow if you plan on doing upgrades down the line.

gt40 is plenty for your setup. If you can't find/afford the tubular, the explorer intake will work just as well and they're usually cheaper. I got my gt-40 Explorer intake for about 130 on ebay.

I'm sort of in the same boat. I can get a TFS Track Heat intake for pretty cheap right now, but is it even worth it to install before I pick up some better flowing heads? I'm not going to waste my time installed the intake if I won't see any power gains until I get the heads, I'll just do them at the same time.

As for the chipping a stock engine car comment, I seriously believe that the results are going to vary from car to car. I have several bolt ons, cam, valve springs, gears, full exhaust etc. and my car ran SO much better after getting an SCT Chip and having a custom tune made by Speedy Dyno (local Mustang shop). The cam is mild, TFS Stage 1 to be exact. The guy who owned the car before me put it in and the difference in how well the car performed before and after the chip was night and day.

I had my intake for almost 8 months before I installed it. In that time I gasket matched the upper and lower and ptu a new coat of paint on it as well.

TFS Heads can be had for 800-1200 bucks. wait and get a set of those or maybe even edelbrock heads. ( whichever you prefer ) [ cough cough trickflow cough cough ],and install them with the new intake. even if you just go with a gt40 intake, doing the heads/intake together is gonna be a "shit yourself" surprise. You won't believe how much it will wake that motor up.

alright just for poops and gigles what is the diff between the heads if they have the same cc and flow numbers becouse the pro comps are way less money and you can get the same #s as the trick flow or the afr?

I also have had a set of trickflow heads waiting to find a cam to match it too for the better part of this year. Since the car was my mothers, I am never going to sell it. So it is nice to be able to wait till I see the deal I want and get it then. Lifetime warrenties?! love em....

thats besides the point... you dont have heads or an intake... so when you DO get them, you will just have to get it tuned again.

so, one more time now.... why the hell would anyone wase their money tuning a stock engined car... especially when they have further engine mods planned?

Did you miss the part where I said it DID make a difference? Why would I need to delay buying the chip when they will burn all future tunes into it for free at the shop where I had it installed? I tried all previous remedies for fixing the idle issue (which I'm sure my cam played a part in), but nothing helped completely except the chip.

I'm sure your next question will be, "Why would you put a cam in a car with an engine that's mostly stock otherwise?!" The previous owner put the TFS Stage 1 cam, shorty headers, offroad H, and Flows on the car all at once. I'm aware that I'm not gaining much power from it, but for now it sure does sound cool. Considering I already have this TFS cam, I figured I would do the rest of the top end with TFS stuff. By reading other posts of yours (Addermk), I can tell that you clearly do have a vast amount of knowledge about these cars. Would it be in my best interest to not install the intake for now and pick up some subframes and control arms, and maybe some wheels and tires? Considering I'm running 245's all around right now I figured that may help with traction as well.
