Great looking truck! I've always liked a lowered full-size...probably stems from my younger days in the "mini-truckin'" scene lol. My primary ride is a '16 F-150 Screw 4x4. It drives like a dream now - I ditched the stock FX4 shocks and replaced all 4 corners with Bilstein 5100s. Leveled the front with them and just stock height in rear on 275/60/20 Nittos. I still get 17-18 combined as those tires aren't all that heavy.

The driver’s door speaker went out and I sought an inexpensive upgrade. Went to see Ralph at the local audio joint with the intent to buy some $100-150 /////Alpine 6x9’s but was upsold.

Meet the Ford IS 690 from Focal. The speakers were built into a chassis that fits exactly like stock. The tweeters fit into the stock location and had adaptors to plug into the oem harness. This alone was worth the $385 price of admission.

A small amount of flair to round out an easy installation.

The sound quality is much better than the coaxial Pioneer speakers and the Focal tweeters make an ass out of the tweeters. Some strategic sound dampening on the door and eventual amplifier will bring the sound out even more.

The rear 6.5” speakers are coming soon!

Nice choice! When I did the system in my '16 I went with JL C2 components up front. I ended up cutting up the factory speakers to use the frame as a mounting bracket. The POS Metra adapters I bought were next to worthless.

If you're looking for an "easy button" method when installing the rest of your system, look up for FOR11-CK harness. Makes things much easier (assuming you don't have the B&O system). There's a guy over on the F-150 forum that is selling them custom for whatever your setup needs. I bought my JLs from him, solid guy.

There's another brand as well that sells upgraded factory replacement speakers.. I forget the name, but it's also mentioned on the F150 forums.

Good call! I forgot all about that integration harness. Oh, I know exactly who you speak of. I’m on that forum as “white15” but I don’t post nearly as much as I ought to.

That harness makes it super easy. I used that with my install:
JL C2 6.5 components up front
Factory rear doors
Infinity shallow mount 12" (2Ohm)
Pioneer GM-D9605

That Pioneer is a solid amp, it's pushing all doors/tweeters and the sub. I built a down-firing sealed box that fits under the rear driver side seat. I didn't have to use a seat lift or anything and still have the storage "tray" under there as well. There's some really nice boxes available, but they were out of my budget and more than I needed. I need the space more than I need a second sub. Tools, get home bag, etc.

Thanks for the review!! I’m not sure what I want to do for subs. I want big bass that will stand up to Rap, EDM but have the range to play heavy metal and even classical. Yes. Classical. I’m not as concerned with storage and such.

Right on. If storage/space isn't an issue, you can do two 12s without any problems.

Yeah, I don’t keep much in the truck aside from tire change items and ammunition :D

That would work. I wouldn’t mind having a box that I could remove, if I needed the seat. My local buddies that build speakers (Brutal Sounds, LLC) are trying to talk me into four 8” subs in a ported box under a lifted back seat. I’m going to explore a few options before I make a choice.

With the technology that has come in to mobile audio now, 4 8s can absolutely slam. The local audio shop here where my nephew used to work was trying to get him to do 4 6.5s in his Super Duty. I've just always been a fan of 12s, personally.

There are a lot of cool options to put a sub under the seat in those trucks. Some of the boxes I have seen built for them are beautiful honestly.

I'm leaving towards one of these Gately Audio setups with B2 subs:
