I think the first mods will be some JLT oil separators and their cold air intake. The CAI doesn't require a tune and the oil seperators keep the engine's inlet tract cleaner, longer.

Not exactly the coyote swap I thought you were thinking about. But hell of a nice truck man or "toy hauler"! Can't beat those aluminum trucks.

Tried out my wife's Christmas gift, Canon Rebel SL1, before I wrapped it. The truck is filthy from a few days of rain:

For just "winging it" off hand, I think it takes pretty good pictures.

6000 mile update

I've made a few observations in two months of ownership and I'll list then expand on each.

1] Ride stability and quality - This thing rides great on decent roads and handles like a truck should. However uneven expansion joints, rough transitions, big dips or any bump in a curve is enough to upset the rear end. Think snap oversteer in our SN95's and you get the picture. It also bounces several times after a big dip, enough to bounce my head off the head rest. Kind of unsettling really, the roads here are well terrible at best in places and I consider this a liability.

Fix - Did some research on the subject and it's a well documented issue. Ford 'under valved' the shocks and has yet to release a TSB but no one has died as a result so... Enter a Belltech 3/5 lowering kit complete with sport struts/shocks.

2] Driving Impression- It effortlessly blends into traffic and has no problems as a daily driver. At low throttle take offs the 1-2 shift feels sorta vague but if you really stand in it, the TiVCT shifts [VTEC KICKS IN YO] and she really moves. Any speed under 60 mph? She kicks down to 2nd gear, it's a riot. Truly. In fact, I really think this truck would've whipped my PI swap car with it's 2.73's.

3] Interior/Creature comforts - The heated/cooled leather seats are comfortable but not 'too cushy' and it doesn't lead to fatigue. Period. The steering wheel is nicely padded, hand stitched leather and has cruise/phone/radio controls evenly spaced. The remote start has paid for itself a few times. The ambient lighting it a nice touch and helps locate the cup holders in the dark. I've only added the WeatherTech floor mats thus far but intend to do a few more things sooner or later.

What's Louisiana like for front window tint? Do they care?
Authorities here seem to get off on writing window tint tickets, treat it like some horrible crime.

Also, the SL1 is a great camera to learn on. Take it off auto though and learn to use manual, also no flash :p

You can't pass the annual Louisiana state vehicle inspection with anything darker than 50% on the front windows. Luckily for me, my truck came from a parish that has a two year inspection. Normally though, I'd just have them stripped prior to and re-tinted post inspection. Small jurisdictions with an irrationally high appetite for writing citations will nail your balls to the wall but cops typically look the other way.

I personally haven't messed with it since I've been working so much but I plan to do justbthat. Looking into buying a decent tripod too.

Sterlington. That's on 165 between Bastrop and Monroe. It's pretty much no mans land for modded cars.

I got pulled over one day last year maybe an hour after having my exhaust done after I put my X pipe on...I was doing something like 72 in a 65, then the guy starts telling me what all was illegal on the car....tint too dark, it sat too low, the headlights and fog lights were too dark, fog lights too close to the ground, blah blaah blaaaaahhhh. But there was nothing he could do to me since I had an Arkansas license. He was actually pretty cool though and liked the car, just had to point out how much he could have gotten me for lol.

Manfrotto tripod.
Also, if you're doing cars get a good circular polarizer (don't cheap out or it will cause you more issues than benefit).

People can easily write tickets to out of state folks. And most law abiding people don't think of window tint as a big deal, but the other side of the coin is you could very easily be pointing a gun at the officer while he walks up and he never knows and then you kill him and drive away.

Again, it really only negatively affects good people though.

Afterwards, I gave it a well deserved bath:

Bilstein 5100 shock installation

This will hopefully cure the crappy, factory handling characteristics. I didn't take any "how-to" type pictures since the majority of us know how to change shocks (or don't need to know)
