Trip log:
Day one:
5:30 AM – noticed that temporary lights on Lacey‘s Jeep were not working
6 AM – embark on journey
10:30 AM – filled up in Shreveport, Louisiana 22.4 MPG / 257 miles
2:30 PM – filled up just outside Dallas, Texas 21.1 MPG/252 miles
6:15 PM – encountered supercell thunderstorm near Childress, Texas. Crazy Crosswinds. Temperature dropped from 95° to 65°.
Also filled up there. 21.5 MPG/240 miles.
8 PM – Gladiator experiencing def fuckery. Leaving at dealer overnight to be checked first thing in the morning. Can’t make this shit up.
9:00 pm – Decided to rev my truck up. It was in Drive. Almost hit the Dodge dealership guy lol
If you can’t dodge it, Ram it.
10:00 pm – Waffle House. Because Waffle House. Showered and talked to Gigi for a while settled in for the night.
11:30 PM – Wall lamp arced out while plugging phone charger in. Electrical fury tried to bite the electrical guy. The irony.
Day two:
6:40 am – showered and packed stuff into truck.
7:15 am – Charles and Lacey took the JK to go check on the Gladiator and I’m waiting at the hotel.
7:56 – dealership discovered not to open at 7:30 as informed last night but opens at 9 AM. Morale dipping, but all we can do is wait.
9:30 am– gladiator showed code P24A4 which is high concentration/interrupted regen
Operation high speed diesel negotiations through Amarillo city streets, commencing
9:50 AM – filled up in Amarillo with 91 octane 6.501 gallons/101 miles/16.7 MPG
10:24 AM – pressing on to Colorado Springs. We’ve elected to not flat to the JK and she is going to drive this leg.
11:05 AM – crossed into New Mexico
11:15 am MST -! filled up at small town in New Mexico just to top off tank 16.3 Mpg 126 miles 7.728 gallons
1:08 PM – Cross into Colorado. Stopped and took goofy pictures with the state sign.
3:25 PM – filled up tank from half in Pueblo, Colorado 20.7 MPG 217 miles 10.513 gallons
3:33 PM – arrived in Colorado Springs
Approximately 3:45 PM – 6 PM – went hiking in Garden of the Gods
8:00 pm - found suitable campsite and set up for the night.
Day three:
Peaceful in the woods. Slept good. No issues.
7 AM – woke up ate breakfast, started to break a camp down
8:45 AM – left camp to next destination which I’m not exactly sure what is. Views are amazing
10 AM – Lacey reporting her jeep doing weird transmission things. Four progress still being made just funky shifting in Manual mode.
1100-present
Getting my ass kicked on this trail
Completed the trail. Minor damage the truck. Spirit still high.
5:32 pm - filled up in Johnson Village, Colorado. 13.1 MPG. 132 miles. 10.122 gallons.
Spending the night in Leadville Colorado.
Day four:
6:30 AM – woke up, got dressed and walked to a lovely little breakfast spot
8:05 AM – left Leadville to head to Holy Cross Trail
8:35 AM – crossed the continental divide
9:35 am - begin Holy Cross Trail with Gladiator and JK.. F150 tucked away at a campsite.
10:30 - 10:47 am - Had to winch both Jeeps over the trail “gatekeeper”
11:02 am - Saw a natural waterfall for the first time.
12:30 pm - Winched gladiator across creek
12:50 - encounter fallen trees. Continued on foot to finish the trail.
1:32 pm - reached clearing with what appears to be boilers left from the mining era.. questioning hiking lol
1:49 pm - reached Holy Cross town 11,428’
1:59 pm - began hike back to jeep
2:37 PM – glad to make it back to the gladiator
3:27 pm - winching Lacey down obstacle
4:25 pm - both jeeps winched to clear obstacle
5:25 pm - both jeeps winched to clear gate keeper
5:36 pm - made it to exit loop
6:14 pm - picked up F150 and found an unoccupied camp site. Setup up camp. Started sprinkling at 6:50 pm

Day five:
7:00 - 9:00 am - Woke up. Had breakfast. Broke down camp.
10:00 am - stopped in Coopers Mountain? for caffeine
11:50 am - Stopped to take pics at the Continental Divide sign
