I'm sure I could have searched this but screw it new threads don't hurt. Anyways, I have a bbk h pipe with a flowmaster cat-back currently. I have had fitment issues with this system from day one, my tail pipes will be fine for awhile then the start rattling and banging off of stuff. I had a mac exhaust on my fox with dump mufflers with turndowns and it didn't drone. I am thinking about ditching my tail pipes on my 98 and just putting some turndowns on instead. I do not daily drive my car and do limited long distance driving with it. I ran without tails on this car before but without turndowns and it was ridiculous, the amount of drone in the car. Does anyone have turndowns on theirs? How is it?

my 4v has turndowns and the drone on long drives is brutal.

went from Denver to Laramie and both my girlfriend and I had splitting headaches at the end of each trip.

I have garbage "Jones Exhaust" mufflers tho. that doesnt help.

I look forward to pipes one day, thats for sure!

If you limit long distance driving and slap on $20.00 turn-downs, you should be fine. I liked it in-city...

Yeah I don't mind it being louder, I just don't want that booming that I was getting w/o tails or turndowns.

Dumps are horrid on modular cars I could never do it. On push rod cars there not so bad but they drone. I'm still against the no tail pipes thing so with my anti roll bar I'm going to have to figure out something.

Back on topic. Is us system slip fit together or welded ? Are you running hangers where ur mufflers are ? Or do you just tighten it up to the mid pipe and be done with it

I'm running Chris's Borla's on mine, and I have it dumped right under the axle. I had to get special cobra 3in intermediates and trim about 3in off of them in order to get the dumps to not hit the axle but well worth it. Got some hangers and used the stock hanger location and haven't had any rattling whatsoever. Before that I had the mufflers with no dumps and it was unbelievable droney. But put 3in turndowns on it and drone isn't nearly as bad and doesn't bother me at all. It really just depends on your mufflers. For the hell of it I put my buddy's Flowmaster dumps on and they weren't droney at all. I'm just not a tin can Flowmaster fan lol

The tailpipes slip into the mufflers and there is hangers at the mufflers and hangers by the tips.

You guys are crazy, it's really not that bad lol. It's not HALF as bad as running just mufflers! Believe me when I put my dumps on I was so shocked by how much quieter it was I literally had to stomp on it to make sure it was still loud lol..

I guess when I pull the trans out again I can just pull the tailpipes and put some turndowns on to try it out. If I don't like then I will probably ditch the flowmaster mufflers for bassani or magnaflow and then get the tailpipes tacked on. I don't want to weld them solid then I will have a hell of a time if I ever need to pull the exhaust for something.

I unfortunately made the mistake of putting my bassani exhaust on my girl's GT to "see how it sounds" and never got them back. So I'm running dumps right now. NO TURNDOWN. HATE IT! Dumps/turndowns or whatever. They ruin the sound of mufflers and turn everything into the same sound. So stupid. It doesn't drone but man, I miss my bassanis.

I have flowmaster 40s on my 96. They were dumped at the axle. That was too loud and was driving me nuts. I decided to put on turndowns and am very pleased. They drastically reduced interior noise. Instead of just turning them down i turned them to the side as well.

I have a set of ss magnaflow mufflers, dumped and have 0 drone.I drive the highway 70mph 60 miles a day and with my stock radio turned just about all the way down I can here it. Was at 3000rpm with 26" tall tires and still no drone just loud exhaust. Now with the 27.5 rear tires at 2500/2600 highway rpm I can barley hear the damn exhaust the cars almost quiet!
