I have to get my car to pass the vehicle inspection. Problem is the Airbag system has a trouble code. I think its a simple matter of clearing it. Its a code 52 I believe. But if its not the problem what are some other work arounds for the light. It has to come on at start up and go off like normal. It cant flash a code and stay on. Or just not come on at all ( like pulling the bulb). Any help is appreciated.

Thats weird, on our tests [inspections] here, the airbag system can flash beep whatever and it does'nt fail which i always think is strange.

Richmond is different. I mean, its not part of the main restraint system. Its a supplemental restraint. I'm still safe with my seat belt in a crash. The air bag is just extra protection.

Code 52 is "Intermittent or Repaired Lost Battery Feed", it usually pops up when you disconnect the battery or your battery dies. All you need to do to clear the code is

2. Cycle the ignition switch to OFF and then to RUN.

3. Observe air bag indicator prove-out (six ? two seconds) followed by diagnostic trouble code (52-85) flashing completely one time.

4. Locate the Diagnostic "Trouble Code Clear" Connector located underneath the glove compartment (06010) containing Circuits 631 (T/R) and 57 (BK).

5. Use a jumper wire to short Circuit 631 (T/R) to Circuit 57 (BK) or to another good ground. This short must be made after the diagnostic trouble code flashes completely one time, but before the warning light stays on continuously.

6. Hold short until air bag diagnostic monitor tone sounds (approximately five seconds).

7. Release short on Circuit 631 (T/R) to Circuit 57 (BK). This short must be released within 25 seconds after the diagnostic monitor tone sounds.

The connector under the glove box looks like this

BTW it is much easier to jumper the two wires from the back of the connector where the wires go into it than from the front. Hope this helps.

Thanks, I tried this last night. Then found it flashing a code 32. After clearing the code 52. The car has to go in tomorrow for the inspection. So I pulled the bulb. Which now the module is beeping at me when I start it. So it looks like tonight I'll be disabling the system completely. I want it to work, but I dont have the luxury of time.

Yeah I replaced it with a supposed good one I had to find it flashing code 32 as well. So I'm working with the guy off Ebay right now to get things corrected. This sucks.
