so i took my car to pepboys to get an oil change because the ford dealership maintenance was closing soon and couldn't squeeze me in. i had to go pick up some boxes for my moms work so i left it there. then i picked it up before they closed. and when i got it in noticed that they had burnt the clutch. i was like whatever i didn't think they burnt it that much. well on my way to pick up my girl. going into 3rd the clutch gives out on me.. :angry4:

well what clutch do u guys suggest is the best bang for the buck.

98 cobra

maybe this one

I'm running a Spec 1, though I wouldn't suggest it unless you like a fairly stiff off/on clutch.. I've heard the stage 2's are better though. Heard good things about the Centerforce Dual Friction clutch and the King Cobra clutch also.

Better question, why not do your own oil changes if you don't want people effing your car up? Only reason I'd ever bring my vehicle in for oil changes is if it is still under warranty. Honestly, it takes 30 mins tops, you are doing the work so you can take extra time to check everything over, and you can use quality products.

An oil change takes 30 mins tops... You probably spent more time waiting/driving to the shop then it would have taken to do it yourself :p. Anyways, I have a Centerforce dual friction and love it for driveability purposes, feels like stock, well almost. My only complaint is it squeaks a little bit, the pressure plate has those little weights on it and they chirp a little, and it's not my TOB, just overhauled that stuff last winter :).

As far as driveability goes the Spec 1 kinda sucks... i'm used to heavy clutches, but this thing is pretty jerky and gets old daily driving in traffic. I'd say go with something lighter.

How the heck can they burn a clutch out doing an oil change?
Was the ground wet? Only thing i can think of is getting the car onto a wet floor/ramp and a noob stick driver.

Is there anyway PB can pay for this?

I had pep boys do my breaks once, they have not touched any of my vehicles since and I honestly even hate to just buy stuff there and suppor them. I dopped it off, go figure they said it needed new rotors too?! I pick it up and just out of the parking lot they are making a horrible noise. I took it back and it was right at closing so they said just to bring it back in the morning and they would do it... I said that I live 40 mins away on the highway and they want to send me home with bad breaks, and then come back?! Sure whats the problem.........

F that place, I would not let them wash my car if they had a carwash attached.

I had the sve mongoose clutch and it was too much like the king cobra and the pedal effort gets old after a while. I now have a fidanza stg1 and it feels like a stock clutch.
