so ive got my 302 im building into a road race car, but now on my craigslist ive found a complete drivetrain from a 02 gt for $1000. sounds like a pretty good deal, and i love technology, i guess im just wondering if itd be an easy swap, any pros and cons, u know, some input. it just looks like a great deal.

includes running motor, 5 speed tranny, harness and ecu, posi 8.8 rear end, sounds to good to be true

it's doable but I'm not sure it's easy. I know one of the things you have to change is the fuel system since the 4.6 doesn't use a return style setup. If you got the harness and ECU i think that would be key.

You've got most of it there but Onyx is right on the fuel system. you'd also probably need the gauge cluster and most of the electronic stuff.

If you're going to do a swap like that its much easier to start with a donor car. Like a rear-ended 01 GT or something.

Get a Mach 1 and be super fly.

Probably better off putting that 1000 into your 302. You would also need a k-member for the 4.6. The cost in extra parts would add up very quick.

I passed and just kept the money for my 302 stuff, cause then I'd need all the 4.6 speed parts too, and I'm feeling lazy and it sounds like alont of work

we just swapped an 01 cobra motor into a 97 cobra, and it was a huge pain in the ass...we used the computer from the 97, honestly if we would've had to change the whole wiring harness over too...i couldn't imagine the headache lol.

It would be a lot easier if you started with a 96... thats for certain. I agree with others... put that into the 302
