I ordered one of these with a handful of other maintenance items after I hit the 75k mark.

I assume to get the most out of this lower temp thermostat, the fan on/off/high/low parameters need to be changed. Anyone have a good starting point for me to try first? I have an SCT xcal2...

Since you have the XCal, you can easily make some adjustments...

You can move the fan start/stop temperatures downward. There are low-speed and high-speed on/off temps and you can start with 10 degrees from stock and see if you like these settings.

Thanks Chris. Off topic on my own thread but I can see you have comp cams and the Livernois intake mods. I am planning the exact same thing, and have similar exhaust/intake bolt ons. Have you ever had it dynoed and/or done a track run?

John, I have to admit that my car is a garage queen (no track time) and I have not had it on the dyno since I changed the intake and cams (and TB/upper plenum). It is a different car, though! My plan is to get it to the dyno in the spring. The original dyno tune (by Jerry W, no less!) yielded 195 rwhp and 267 rwtq but the HP curve dropped off sharply at about 4000 RPM, lol. At that time, the car had the usual bolt ons (catted x-pipe, catback, u/d pulleys, CAI).

I didn't change the valve springs (engine had 33k at that time) but Comp recommends (they don't 'require' them) improved springs for the 268H cams. If I was shifting at 6500 RPM (possible/desirable with these cams and intake), I would change the springs for sure. The ramp rate is more aggressive than stock and the duration is longer than stock so the springs take a pounding at 6500 RPM. So, if you are going to wind the little 281 out, put in NexTek (Manley) springs and you won't have to worry about spring problems.

I'll post back with new numbers but I expect you will be all finished your additions by that time.

Chris
