I had a '99 Cobra about 4 years ago... I went from a '99 GT to it, so it was a step up. Mine was a vert (don't do it!). It had the "fix". It was a decent car, but unfortunately it was owned by 2 different kids before I got my hands on it. To say it was beat is an understatement :sad5:
Some things to consider:
1. Cost of parts. See that snake? Just add a 10-25% cost premium. Engine parts? Hope you don't like your first born very much.
2. Wheel hop. Terrible terrible terrible. I broke the differential twice due to wheel hop. Be prepared to spend money to reduce it.
3. 99-01 IRS not nearly as strong as 03-04. Ford learned from the 99-01 and improved it for 03-04.
4. 32v 4.6L. What a PITA to work on. Complicated timing setup. Weak oil pump rotors (they don't like 7k RPMS very much).
But all things considered, it was a very fun car. Handled great and was pretty quick. If I ever have the chance to get another Cobra though, I'd definitely hold out for a Termi...
