Hey everyone,

I am new to the site, and here for some answers.

I have a 1995 V6 auto, and found a 1999 manual transmission. I am about to buy, but doing some searching first. I am getting everything, clutch, pedals, trans, flywheel etc.

From what I understand their are a few things possibly standing in my way. The speedo, tail shaft and possibly the drive shaft. First the speedo, is there anyway I can covert to the 1999s electronic speedo to my 1995? And do I have to swap the tailshaft/ drive shaft to work on my year?

Any help, write up or incite will help. Really want this to work, but want to have a game plan first.

Please SCHOOL ME!

Thanks!

if i recall correctly, you could use a Dallas Extended Range Speedcal to convert the 99-04 speedo signal to the 94-98. but i havent read about that in a long time. this would eliminate the need to swap tailshafts

Thanks, I will have to take my time and read over the whole thread. Really mad all the pictures are red x's, just me or is that showing up for you too?

Thats the kind of step by step write up I need/want!

I did kind of the opposite... I put a '94 manual in my '98 auto car. The only major thing I had to change was to wire in the backup-light plug for the new manual transmission, and jumper a couple of wires on the automatic transmission wiring harness.

Also, you will want to get your computer re-flashed to read for a manual (or replace with a computer from a stick-car), otherwise it does some ... odd... things.

1995V6, i didnt realize your original trans was an Auto, the auto tailshaft wont work on the 99-04 manual. you'd have to get a 94-98 manual tailshaft

Thanks guys. The seller wants to know what I want to do.

So, to recap. Out of the wreaked 99 I need......

I think I can do this, but I do not have a good feeling finding a tailshaft out of a 94-98 manual.

out of the 99.

transmission
clutch/brake pedal assembly
transmission wiring harness
driveshaft.
shifter
clutch kit
flywheel

and get some type of Handheld tuner to get the PCM to act as a manual trans car.

I would've done that if I could have found a '96+ harness. The one in the '94 manual was different enough to not work.

ah, then OP, you will need a 95 trans harness or splice in the wiring to your existing auto harness
