dont be surprised if they just put true duals. if its a balanced engine like they have been making all the v6's in the past, there's no reason to spend the extra money on a crossover pipe on (even) a base model car. cutting out the material to make a crossover and any extra labor/employees it may take to make that extra part in the assembly line would save hundreds of thousands to millions over the production of the model. And especially in a time like this, even with the performance going up, they're still going to find a way to give you the same car the cheapest way possible, obviously without trying to hinder the quality of the car (too much?).

wouldnt surprise me if thier exhausts are built my a sub-contractor on a bulk-rate system. I doublt there would be much of a price difference between the cross-over and without the cross-over. You are right that without a crossover the price would be cheeper, but changes are 50 state legality will play a larger roll than price.

I like it, definitely had to step it up to compete with the V6 Camaros. As long as they keep some obvious styling cue differences between the V6 and V8 I think it's a good call.

The V8 was confirmed to the employees at the Ford dealer I am doing a work study at last month. They said that the "coyote" 5.0L with 400hp WILL be in the 2012 GT for sure, and might make the 2011 year. If Ford has done this now, I can almost guarantee the 5.0L will be back for 2011...

In other news, I'm actually excited about this. Do you not realize that this means Ford will have to be stepping up the V8 so their own V6s don't outrun the GTs? 5.0L, I can't wait! haha
Coyote engine has been confirmed. 5.0L modular pushing 405 HP.

Bye Bye SS

Now if ford is going to use the 5.0 in the GT... Let's see them use the 6.2 raptor engine in the mustang for an SVT model. Then, i might not hate Modulars quite as much.. haha

the 6.2 is going to be an option in all f-series i believe, not just the raptor.

Correct, and their are unconfirmed reports of 2012 or so specialty models (i.e. Bullit, Mach and TEH BOSS!) that will have the 6.2L in it.

1) what is so bad about a good power, good mileage v6? and...
2) what is so bad about it having a dual exhaust system? :dontknow:

nothing, but the v8 muscle car purists get all butt hurt when the 6-cylinder "girl cars" are able to match the performance their couple year old V8's.

I think that's the beauty of the whole thing. Before cars like the 370 were as fast or faster as the V8 Mustangs, and now they're about the same as the V6 and the V8 is like c'yaaaaaaa.

and the V6 mustang only costs $22k compared to a $34k 370Z :D

it makes both the V6 and V8 mustang look like, and they are, incredible deals

I'd love to have the V6 as a DD... Quick car and 30MPG if you baby it, sounds damn good to me!

Too bad the 2011+ is so damned ugly...
