Nice!, Im gathering parts for my big bore Teksid build as we speak. Im staying N/A, but am 99% sure that Im going to go with a carb setup as well.

Nice, that will be sweet. Not a lot of carbed mods out there. We should get some interesting looks haha

Looks damn good nice work!

Thanks! Went and fired her up the other day. Fired up and did a nice burnout haha.

I am disappointed in the all the leaks this thing has. Maybe after I get the carb on there and running I will start chasing down the leaks. I know one is where the oil filter adapter bolts to the block. One bolt which I can't get a good wrench on it so it is hard to get it really tight.

Getting anxious to get that carb on there and start playing with it again. Have had some nice days that I wish I was cruising the mustang.

Thanks!

Got the gauge pod and regulator in. Just need a day to go mess with it. I really want to rebuild the carb before it goes on too

Here is how she looks so far. I am going to tuck the wires better after I get it all figured out and make sure it is wired correctly. I just need a temp controlled fan switch, wire the two step, tach and get an adaptor for the fuel line.

that's cool. I always wondered how a carb would do on a Mod.

if I may ask, what made you decide to go this route and how did you size the carb?

I honestly just got really sick of chasing down problems and not finding answers. It was getting to the point of not enjoying it anymore and was getting really burnt out on the car. Did some reading and found the parts I needed for pretty decent prices so I said why not. Plus it will be kinda different to see a carb on a mod motor. You have a bad ass car by the way..

It is getting really close. Almost everything is wired up, need to find a cord that connects with my computer to the ignition to get the timing table on there. I need to get the throttle cable put on and then get everything nice and tidy.

So it turns out that a bunch of frustration burnouts uses a lot of fuel. And if you add fuel in to your car it works better haha.

But today I got an hour to go out and work on the car and once I put some more gas in there she fired right up. No problems with missing or ignition problems at all. Still some loose ends I need to tie up. Need to wire the fan, the tach, two step put the fender on wire up the wideband and get a fuel pressure sensor on the lines. Other than that, I think she ran pretty damn good. The sound quality sucks because of the room we were in, but she lopes pretty good. A lot better than with the efi.

I got the temp codes gone and now there are no helpful codes left. The car will start and run well until it hits about 150 degrees and then it will die like I am using the key to turn it off. I know it keeps fuel pressure in the lines and doesn't look like the spark is getting cut. But once it is warm it will fire right and then run for about 30 seconds and kill itself. No cel's come on so that isn't any help.

I am confused why it just started doing this now..
Most likely the temp sensor problem. 150 goes into close loop and if the temp is wack it will make it run like that.

I don't think a carb cares open loop/closed loop.

Yea, it is carbed now. Don't really care about codes. It ran well! I just need to tie up a few loose ends like I said and should be good.

But yes I did chase around temp sensors and did new ones and so on. The temps were all messed up when it went to the tuner too, but just threw in the towel cause I was getting burnt out on it and needed something different. There was a code for a temp sensor but nothing was making a difference and on top of that I am sure I was having pats problems so I just said hell with it. Plus it will be the only carbed 4.6 in town. And sooner or later blown carbed 4.6.

And again, this is the beauty of a mod motor....options! Fuel injection is not for some and mod engines are ok with that.

Yea it ran good, and didn't even do any "tuning" to it. So I am excited to spend some time on it and getting it running right. I will definitely get some better videos of it and get some 2-step action going.

Does it look weird with just one stack? Maybe do dual stacks?
