I own a '94 mustang GT. Im currently a college student and my mustang is my DD. I was planning on trying to do a budget build that can really wake the engine up a little. Just needed some opinions or tips as far as my build plan goes.

Stock lower end
GT40 Heads
Stock rockers
Stock injectors
TFS stage 1 cam
Cobra intake
Shorty Headers
O/R H pipe

As I said before, just looking for a inexpensive build, that can wake her up a little but still have a lot of reliability to it. Any help is appreciated.

Sounds like a very common/proven setup. Might want to think about getting some 1.6 or 1.7 Roller rockers though

Ill probably go with the larger throttle body, and I have been flip flopping on the rockers. Anything that I should look to replace as far as other components go?

If you are going to tear it down that far, def add a set of lifters to the budget ... I put a cam in a 90GT that had a ton of miles (I know, asking for trouble ... I got it) and left the original lifters in. Needless to say, I had a lifter lock up and flatten a lobe. Never seen that happen with a roller set up, but it did. Summit sells a full set of 16 for ~$120.

+1 on the RR's ... if you get 1.7's you'll need to measure and get longer PR's

wow, I gues that makes sense though. Ill definitely be replacing the lifters. I know yall keep telling me about the RR's but what will be the big difference with those, just to give the gt40s a little upgrade or what?

really just a reduction in valvetrain weight and friction = more efficient = more HP

Look at my build thread and my old build and you will see what i was going to run. People in fox's were pulling mid to high 11's on stock weight.

For a budget, i wouldnt worry about getting rockers, unless you get a smoking deal.. Other then whats mentioned, a 75 mm tb, long tube headers with matching mid pipe and nice catback, will do wonders!! id go longtube rather then shorty headers if you have the xtra money.. also a set of 3.73 gears will give you a nice boost in acceleration..

Well, it seems I have some bad news. I have had this rattle coming from under my car since I bought it and I could never figure out what it was. Today I found a huge crack going from the starter mount area on my tranny to the other side. I never noticed it before because it goes across the top. So it seems as if I will be putting this build off because I will not have the budget for another tranny and doing the build I want to do.
