is the AOD any good?? What can i doo to make it perform better without spending big bills??

im looking at a turbo kit and leaving the motor stock (8-10psi) (upgrade block and h/c/i later)

Don't wanna spend big bills but you're looking at a turbo kit :hammer:
Gears, H/C/I

First things first though: Normal maintenance. Make sure everything is updated and cleaned.

Before I did any of that install a shift kit, trans cooler and gears. The trans is the weak link. The gears to help you off the line with the auto and maybe even a stall too.Do the weak link first.

well....a turbo kit would be around $3500...but first i would have to make sure the engine and tranny are ok for boost....

i guess it would be a better bang for the buck than h/c/i and i wouldnt have to tear my motor apart...plus i can leave stock gear ratio :hammer:

the transmission shift perfectly but....trans cooler and shift kit sounds like a good idea to get it ready for any performance upgrades

i dont want to push it too far either...mild boost...then ill upgrade the trans for more power

A turbo will grenade your stock converter.

Normally I recommend building a car from back to front. You have an auto so unless you plan on using a brake....stock axles should be fine.

Get a self regulating trans cooler, Long makes a great one. That should be #1 on your list, period. Heat is the #1 cause of trans damage.

Your stub shaft/input shaft on your AODE is a weak link. It is known to twist with a power adder. A 1998 or newer AODE/4R70W Stub/input shaft is hardened and is a great modification.

You will need a converter. Need to get one with Anti-Balooning plates that is made for power.

A shift kit is a great modification also, quicker shifts = less heat. Less heat = less chance of trans damage.

AODE/4R70W internals are pretty decent otherwise. That trans is miles ahead of the original AOD.

Definately.... upgrading the internals is what im looking to do....as a matter of fact Circle D transmissions is around the corner
from my house (in Houston) and they do many performance upgrades on AODE...

i really appreciate the information you listed :thumb:
