bad gas milage

i have no clue whats the issue..i have an obd1 code scanner digital and it says nothing is wrong with the car..my gas milage is down to like 130 a tank..it has moroso ultra 40 wires.good cap and rotor.plugs are gapped to 54,there is no bad gas smell like raw unburned fuel,all the smog stuff is there..is it possible the mass air is bad but not throwing a code.it has a stock fuel regulator and its at 38psi...im stumped...this thing is pissing me off..i dont drag race at all....it just goes to work and home...need help fellas.

Shoot I thought I was gettin bad mileage...I got 274 to a tank last weak, which I think is about 17mpg....I thought that sucked.

on the freeway i get about 390 to a tank.... im not to sure about around town, i dont think i want to know that number.

on the way to VA i got 26mpg with max ac going and a fully loaded car. i have a 200k motor also!

Around town i get 13 mpg... it's the nature of the beast!

390 is all freeway nothing else... and thats about 26 mpg... when i had 2.73's i would get around 28 with the top up 25/6 with it down.

I Have 2:73s too! I know I did a lil street driving but not that much. Thats a 120 miles you got over me. I need to check my stuff over again.

i dive a total of 33.25 miles 2 skool nd 33.25 back and i get there nd back on a lil less then half a tank..nd i have 3.08s all high way with no traffic with only 2 miles on the streets
thats works out to 9 mpg! wat shud i do to fix it?srry for the thread jack but i needa no

fuel filter clean the maf, basic tune up stuff first.

hell i've owned my car for nearly 3 years and still haven't needed to change my plugs.
staying off the skinnie peddle helps a lot too.

alright so today i went out nd bought new msd cap nd rotor, msd coil, frpp 9mm plug wires, new plugs, kn air filter,fuel filter,nd cleaned the MAF.so 2 morro will b the real test 2 c how it does

what does keeping the revs below 2k do for gas mileage? sounds like a lot of quick shifting..

It is and it isn't about the revs. There are many discussions on the topic around the Interwebz. I think it all has to do with the Vacuum on the motor. Hence the more throttle you use the more MPG you loose. The easier on the throttle and shifting about 2500 which is what i did with stock 3.08 on the highway netted me my 26mpg with i would say a good 600pds or so in the car and max ac. Around town our motors are just notorious for bad MPG.

around town i always find my self riding 4th gear. it feels like a one speed for me sometimes. get into 4th and stay there, but a lot of my streets are 25-35 mph and the main road through town is only 45.

Yours sounds just like mine. And I always thought mine is fine. One thing though is check the filler neck gasket. You might be leaking gas though there. Its a round grommet looking thing on the side of your gas tank. Yeah I get about 130-150 miles per tank city driving and ill have a heavy foot here n there. As far as freeway I could make a round trip from Bakersfield to LA and back and still have a lil left which is about 260 miles.. I dont believe you can get 390 to a tank. Maybe on a v6 and thats a MAYBE.
