it sounds like its time to do some testing instead of just throwing money at it.

is your battery good? have you tested it?

sounds like the classic faulty PIP inside the distributor.
have you pulled codes?
What mods do you have on the motor?
How many miles on the motor?
When was the last time it had a tune up?

95 gt auto with valvebody work and shift kit, Motor has gt40 heads ported, trick flow stage one cam, trick flow intake and tuned with piggy back chip no cats and new high flow fuel pump. car ran great had sitting 2 weeks went to start and when I turned on key the fan came on and stayed on. Car didn't start. I came back later the fan stayed off with key on, the car started then stalled after about 2 minutes. I noticed fan stayed on..I tried to start NG. thought that ccrm went bad. with the key on not running I found out the fan and fuel pump kept running. I borrowed a friends ccrm from his running car and still same thing. I unplugged ecm and the fan and fuel pump still run with key on eng off, but with ccrm unplugged all goes off.Hoping someone might have had same problem and could help me out. I thing maybe bad ground or shorted wire. Thanks for any help..
ps. the car was tuned up about 3,000 miles ago.

After rereading the origional post, since the FP remains running, that wouldn't be a sign of the PIP going out. sorry
ck the grounds. Batt-chassis, chassis-engine, engine-body. they're in various places in the engine compt.

checked all grounds all making good contact. yesterday the car started up and ran great. Today the car doesn't start, cranks but wont start. the fan and fuel pump run with the key on eng off. I disconnected distributor still same, I unplugged PMC, still same , I unplugged coolant temp and fan sensor still same..... connected everything back and let car sit. Later car started and ran great. Noticed when I had key on eng off the fan and fuel pump were off. I have a ccrm from a running mustang in car. Any ideas about problem?? Thanks for any help and ideas............

I'm lost on this one.
If the car is hot enough the fan will run if the key is in RUN.
The FP should normally be off is the engine is off and the key on in RUN. aside from the 5 second prime when the key is first turned.
Have you pulled codes? you can have one set without the CEL being on.
What was the weather conditions when the ran, and when it didn't?

the car wont start in am but after trying a few hours and then it starts in afternoon. rain in afternoon and in high 80's-92. in am around 75-80. I am trying to study wiring to see if there is anything connected to both fuel pump and fan besides CCRM.........

CCRM and computer.
Are you sure the connector is completely seated in the ccrm.
Did you look to see if there were any bent pins in the ccrm when you did the switch to the back up.

The distributor is what signals the pump, so it makes sense. Glad you got it.
