Ordered a CDC light bar (styling bar) from Steeda and it came today. Got the tan color to match our interior but it's about 3 shades lighter than our interior. Guess our only options are to return it and get it in black or try painting it with vinyl paint. Anyone tried this? Hate to paint a $500 part and have it look like crap. A little disappointed here.

LMR sells color matched vinyl paint. Prep it extremely well with alcohol and paint prep. If LMR doesn't have prep spray, get some from leatherworld and also get a clear from leatherworld as well or else the vinyl paint will degrade quickly. Probably two or three coats of the base paint, then an application or even two of the clear. I used all this stuff on a DIY project for a 10th anniversary steering wheel I did in saddle tan and it came out quite perfect.

Honestly, I'd go with the black. Although that steering wheel came out great.

I feel regardless of what you do to keep it, it's gonna fade/crack/peel

well looks like Steeda's site is messed up. They only show 1994-2004 and its part #101414 but says tan. When I look it up on Summit is shows for 1995 to be Saddle and part #101409. The box clearly says 1999-2004 but Steeda site doesn't separate 1994-1998 from 1999-2004.
I will call them and CDC tomorrow and get this one sent back and get the right one. It sucks but in the end it's better than painting it

That's a perfect solution.

I have an '00 with Tan interior and want to get the same light bar. I can't decide if i want to go black, or match the interior cover however. Hard to find pics of the parchment interior with a black styling bar. Does anyone have some?

Hey Mike, it's P.J.
Good to see you over here. Someone should be able to stir up a pic or 2 I would think.
