Finally posted a picture! Lol talking to you last night in your thread I kept wondering what your car looked like. Good clean looking SN man! And nice mod list to go along with it too

You can't tell by the pic, but the paint is shot on the roof, and the deck lid is getting bad too. I plan on keeping this car a while, so I have been thinking about getting it repainted eventually. I might see about getting the window arches/sails and the roof wrapped in black vinyl for the time being, and I want to find a matching deck lid without a spoiler.

I got my lower control arms on yesterday, and it turns out the uppers are worn out also. I have read its better to keep the stock uppers to prevent binding. Is that true? Should I just try to find some low mileage uppers/change out the bushings in the stock ones, or just got ahead and order some aftermarket uppers?

Anyone have any insight on how to replace the bushings in the upper control arms? How hard is it to get the bushing out of the axle? If it comes down to it, I can take the control arms to a shop and get the bushings pressed out, but I will have to change out the bushings in the axle in my garage.

maximum motorsports sells the tool to get the bushings out of the pumpkin... its a pain, but not too bad.... especially if you have an air-gun.

http://www.maximummotorsports.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=71&products_id=190

if you're interested in saving $20.00, I'll rent the tool to you. Paypal me $40.00, I'll refund $30.00 when you return it :) the $10.00 will cover $10.00 shipping to get it to you...

if you disappear I keep the money so i can replace it. lol.

as for the uppers, maximum motorsports suggests keeping OEM uppers. That's what I did. I had poly bushings in as well and never had a problem, but it also depends on your build and your performance hopes.

If you're replacing just the bushing and not the shell, take a medium size drill bit and go all around the shell with it until you can knock out the rubber, but I would recommend the mm tool and stock rubber as well.

I need a 99 upper rear bushing (to axle), and a 97 upper front bushing (to frame). Will that tool swap out the bushings in the arm too? I'll probably take you up on that. I'll pm you once I have the bushings ordered.

I can't find any. Where can I order rubber bushings from?

I guess I'll go talk to my buddy at Advance tomorrow. They didn't have them listed online anywhere.

You're right, they do. That's strange, because the auto parts stores do not list them as interchangeable.

I went to the junkyard to find a couple upper control arms that would be easy to snatch with no luck, but I grabbed some pbr calipers and a good pony emblem. Mine has a broken pony tail lol.
