So, when i got my car all my door switches didnt work. So i brought some new ones and they worked perfect. Fast forward to some months later my passenger side "unlock" button doesn't work. All the rest works fine.

Is it normal for these things to stop working? The only thing is that my girl hits the "unlock" button EVERYTIME she gets out my car. I told her not to because you cant lock yourself inside our sn95 mustangs but its a habit.

Now im wondering if i got a "unlock" switch already going out when i brought it used. I never had this problem before though even if she used the button like hell lol.

Her using it shouldn't really change much and i've never heard of it being a big problem.. though i'd wait for some more input from the other guys. I think windows are more of a problem.

nah its the bitches fault, make her give you 10 BJ's and then pray for your forgiveness, its always her fault....
the windown and lock switches are a funny system where the advantage is that they do not need relays, the switches do all the work(called a 5-wire system). These sytems are really picky about clean contacts and the plastic parts of the switches can wear out after time especially if every time the door is opened....

As you said it is impossible to lock ourselfs in but some people just much drive GM's. That would piss me off horribly if I was locked in my car everytime I started it.

Start a new habit everytime you get out of her car. REach over and give her the shocker before you open the door every time and see if she catches on. If not then just keep shockin her............

take out the driver's side switch, and put it in the passenger side to see if your current one is bad, or if it is something else.

when i brought my car to the shop to be repainted the driver window worked fine. now when i hit the driver window switch nothing happens, all others work fine. is there an easy way to tell if it's the button or the window motor? no window motor noise at all when i hit the button. i'm wondering now if it's switch. . .

install a "billet" one that really shocks her every time she hits it lol.

But seriously in my old grand prix the driver window switch doesn't work at all and i can only unlock the car from the driver side but not lock it. I attribute it to age, the probably cheap electronics and dirt.

actually the wiring system is called a 5-wire system and that would not work in this case. If he were to do that infact both the drivers side(master switch)and then the pass side(slave switch) would both not work. It is a funny little system where the advantage is that it doesn't need relays, and confuses installers when they first start installing as the door locks use the same system

if there is a bad connection anywhere in the 5-wire system, the entire switch function is lost as well as possibly the other switch(if the drivers side goes out). That is the disadvantage of the 5-wire system besides trying to diagnose master/slave and integrate into it....

You might even be able to just clean the switch or the contacts at the hrns and fix it as resistance could have slowly built up over time...

My driver side lock switch doesn't work either. Never had this problem with my 95.

It doesn't concern me cause my keyfob works great.

is it a stock keyfob? The switches not working should have prevented the fob from working, unless it was an aftermarket system that the rigged some how....
