Well, first post around here. Just picked up a 1994 Torch Red GT from snoball somewhat recently, and I am wanting to start with a good suspension setup.
What are some suspension setups y'all have liked or are partial to for some Drift/Auto-x/Road fun? Coil-overs, max motorsport, eibach pro kits even? Anyone using some fun setups? I am more less looking to have rain fun honestly, or a backroad cruiser. No strict track use or anything.
I was also considering an IRS swap very soon to start with. So, that will change my options im sure.

How the car sits currently, just an idea for how it looks now. Had some deep dish bullitts before the 03 cobra wheels.

Cheers

Maximum Motorsports coilovers are always a good choice along with some lower control arms and full length subframe connectors. Im sure there are others that can help you out more tho

Yeah, I am just looking for suggestions, so im totally open for new ideas! MM seems like my favored one, simply because of quality/price versus others. But, I don't know if someone uses anything cheaper that works really well too. Just don't really know what is all out there I guess.

There have been other threads like this in suspension section.

Anyways. Looking for rain fun? So do you plan on doing any auto-xing or just spirited driving on back roads. That alone will determine different setups. Remember going lower(pro-kit) doesn't always mean the car will handle better. But if your just looking for a fun street car then you will be fine. MM is probably the best bang for buck(with top notch quality) out there man.

Question is are you set on your IRS swap? No need in doing suspension parts on all 4 corners if your going to have to replace the rear shtuff a 2nd time.

Otherwise a good place to start are new shocks&struts(Koni Yellows or Bilsteins) /springs(Pro-kit or H&R SS depending on how low you want to go) and CC plates(MM 4 bolt). Then get an alignment after that stuff is on

Also tires make a big factor in all of it

Yes, I know. I suppose I need to center in on just one. However, I thought drift/road race setups were pretty similar and could be used as the same? I am honestly looking for a fun street car, ready for spirited driving. Not drift/track dedicated. The car is lowered on h&r springs I think he said. MM seems to be the top choice!

As for the IRS, I will decide that within the next week or so. I am 99% sure i am doing it. Just depends on what I can get the irs for in the first place. Buying it from Craven Performance. They have an 03 theyre pulling the rear end out of for a straight axle swap.

And yes, tires I know are a huge part of it. Especially in drift vs grip. Nice sticky tires would make a world of difference as is.

I'm in the process of going full coil-overs.. I'll let you know how I like them ;). I drove the car with just one coil-over in yesterday and it feels like the rest of the car is just jiggling around that one corner. I can't wait to get the rest in! I'd say shocks/struts/springs or coil-overs would be a very good investment. An IRS is a great start too if you decide to go that way.

Oh so theyr swapping the IRS for you solid? Sounds good man. Take it for sure if you want a good street car.

Guess you could go coilovers straight from the get go. Wouldnt hurt! lol

Haha well not just a straight trade or anything. But I am wanting IRS. I HATE the way this damn car rides right now. Damn thing dances everywhere down a backroad. IRS will be the best place to start I believe. I am wanting to do the IRS, then I will look specifically to coilovers, every single reaction I see about coilovers seems to be good.

Well coil-overs are the best option. Just remember with coil-overs alone your car will handle completely differently. Throw in the IRS and it will be a new world.

The rear shouldn't jump on back roads unless they are bumpy as hell. If so I wouldn't be looking to drive like im on a racecourse over those roads.

Make sure to get a full bushing set for the irs if it doesn't already have one before you install it

Yeah, I am ready to refreshen the irs if I got it. I mean a lot of new stuff would be thrown on too.
And well, not bumpy but i mean even different pavement patches. Lots of road repairs here, so different height patches of blacktop in a lot of places.. Dunno how bumpy you'd consider that, but it definitely isnt the smoothest thing. IRS is known for smoothing out the ride and lessening bumps..

I was probably going to wait on the front, since I like how it sits at least. I hate how the back sits, so figured that is a decent excuse to wait and start the rear first. In the mean time, it'll just let me save some more money towards it all.

I just splurged on a system I would call "fun" as you put it. I went with a ride-tech air-ride system that I am picking up in a few hours. I have not decided what shocks/struts to match it with yet but want something adjustable so I can have comfortable drives to the drack and fun while I am there.

Wish I could do something like that, ttocs. But sounds pretty cool.
And yeah I guess I do kind of have a game plan now. Just all about finding out how much I can buy that IRS for!
