I bought a 95 fiveo and it already started up rough and sometimes would just turn off. I changed disriputor cap, fuel filter . And coil but car still did the same thing.
So I bought a diagnostic tool and hooked it up and did the koeo test and said the elec fan fault and that's it.
Then I did the state output test and turn on all relays on and off if I press the gas petal and all the relays would turn on and make noises and fan would cut on while just the ignition is turned on .
Then I turned the car on and the check enigine light is on and car won't start at all anymore .

new rotor, plugs, and wires? If your going to change the cap, might as well do other tune up stuff along with it.....

Welcome to the site. We need more info on whats happening.

When you said it doesnt start do you mean it cranks forever without firing up
or do you mean its doesn't make no sounds or cranks at all.

Descriptions like that

And yea is it cranking at all and not firing? The pip in the distributor is a likely culprit for ur problems

Well when I crank it , it cranks for ever without even a start and I check the plugs and they arnt wet . Also I take one of the spark plugs out and put connect it to a wire and crank it and u can't see any spark .
Only mod is a throttle body from bbk 75mm and I understand the car will run like shit if u don't get a different MAF sensor .
But I'm trying too just have the car run, ill worry about how it runs later

replace the wires/plugs/rotor first, see what happens, then replace the distributor.....if not, then go from there, but cover the basics first

alright i dont got time to fix the car myself so i took it too some shop and they said it was my distributor . and they are going to take it out and look at it and replace it if need, then they said my fuel pump prolly is an issue aswell, because the fuel pressure would drop. (given this guy is hawaiian so i cant understand too much)
They wanna charge me $500 bucks for the fuel pump!! they must be smoking on something because a pump is only like one hundred bucks so im just do it myself if thats the case.

is it possible to fry your relays or the CCRM or the ECM with the 0DB1 scanner?
because thats what i thought i did, because i turned my car on while it was doing the state output test? and ever since then the check engine light came on and stays on.

Should be fine doing that. By the way the fuel injecting signal works off the distributor so if your distributor is toast it can make you think ur pumps gone too. Just buy a Walbro 255lph if you do change the pump tho

That is exactly what it was doing . Car turns on good now and doesn't shut off so yea.
But it still lags a lot and I'm pretty sure its because it needs a different mas air flow sensor . Since the throttle body is 75mm bbk one .
But again thanks for the information . It's another thing learned to pass on to someone else.

The stock mass air should be fine. If ur lagging some power, it could be in the timing still dude if they just replaced ur distributor now. If the timings out it can almost feel like the car has a major dead spot in the pedal. Glad it's running again
