while I love side exhaust kits we have for our sn's, dumps with out the ground effects never looked right to me. As long as you keep your tips clean and polished it looks almost as good as my svo kit.
ya when you cut off the tailpipes the interior is where you will notice the most diff. It can get pretty loud inside depending on what mufflers you are running. sometimes you will also get an earsplitting resonating sound. It can be pretty cool though if ur into that. but if you have some mild mufflers it shouldnt be too loud inside.
I love my dumps, tailpipes look good, but its hard to get the perfect size, 2.5 looks too small, 3 is ok, 3.5 is too big....lol, I say keep dumps, sell tailpipes
When I installed my panhard bar, tail pipes had to be cut off, because they did not clear. I thought that I might be ok with no tips, and drove it home. About 5 miles later I turned around, and went to the exhaust shop. Sitting in traffic, smelling fumes, having my interior rattle, and hearing all the droning changed my mind permanently. As long as this is my daily, it will always have tips.
Yupp. My wife and I are going to take a road trip in the cobra when I get home on R&R next week. I'm gonna make sure I have those tails installed before we go.
Dumps sound good but I couldn't live with it on my car. If you have a stock engine and stock cats then you could probably get away with dumps, but any serious mods and an off-road pipe and it's not an exaggeration when i say my Bassani without tailpipes was bassy enough to make the interior parts vibrate, I had a can of soda in there once and I could have watched it go flat from the can just buzzing in the cup holder.
tailpipes weight alot, and look like crap in my opinion unless you run chrome rims or chrome/polished lip on your wheels.
i prefer the look of dumped with the sound of pipes. i'm running dynomax ultraflows dumped (straight through muffler). it sounds VERY good at WOT, but cruising around its rather annoying. i think i'm going to dump them over the axle soon.
See with your car 1stof3, dumps will sound ok because your bone stock, but get bigger heads/cam and more air coming out, the noise gets LOUD fast. I was really shocked at how much louder my car got with the HCI swap over stock, and that's why I'll stick with tails, I drive this thing everyday, and considering I live in a rather quiet neighbourhood, I basically idle to my house every night lol.
like someone said..it depends what pipes you get..most pipes look like crap on our cars and don't flow imo...i've had both dumps and pipes..i had super 44s dumped and it just droned beyond belief inside, but looked killer..now i got lm1s..still louder than crap, but its towards the back plus slp has the best looking tails imo as well...just depends on what youre going for but you have to pick the right tail pipe
Rice_slayer, you're probably true. I like then even more if they sound louder! I drive a Mustang! The way I see it, supposed to loud as hell. If I wanted a quiet car, I wouldn't drive my car. I'm just different than most of you. I do see your point, though.
