do not spray anything into the trans!!!.
You can clean the pan it you want. make sure the the magnet is clean and in the pan when it's reinstalled.
Did you replace the filter while the pan was off too?

yes ille be installing a NEW filter when im ready to put it in, im hunting for a 4x4 pan with the dimple and the 4x4 filter with the pickup neck for a little extra fluid and so it doesn't run dry on hard turns..i was just wondering best way to clean off the valve body as I have tiny bits of catliter in it or specs of rust from knocking off the oilpan...I also adjust the spring and set it diff as you see in the pic its not on the stock support, it didn't have enough tension to fully pull back the Tv valve plus I bent the arm a bit so it doesn't slide behind the valve also, both of which I read these trans like to do..
its used and im on a budget but it HAS to be done rite, so im thinking I should just get it all bolted up,TC drained and refilled and then take it to a trans shop and have the set the TV cable and check the trans pressure and stuff..i can justify spending the 100 or so for that, just not 1800 for a trans-plant..jeesh , this job is going pretty easy..im just gonna have to find someone who knows what they are doing so I don't fight trying to get it even with the engine..i also have to get new trans mount bushings but them are cheap.

now, the TC has that one little nut on it and if im correct that is to drain and fill it rite? if so how much fluid should I put in it befor I install the trans...
also is a 4r70 Tc a direct swap for an aod or are the lock ups wrong???

UPDATE: its been awhile since I got to work on the car, I was in the hospital for 6 days even.....anyways I installed all the new bushings, trans filter, pan gasket, wiped out valve body very well as, put 2 quarts of merc V into the TC to help prime the pump, rented a jack off craigslist since autozone doesn't or any where else and I wasn't forking over 100 bucks for one rite now..
IT messed with the trans trying to line it up but couldn't so I sat back smoked and stared at it ( this is at 11pm)...wiggled my eng back and forth a bit to maby help get it in line. Now im chopped and finished my cig and went back to work and HORRRRRAY after just 10min it lined up and I could tell I got it because the TC bolts which I had set with the flywheel were all popped through the flywheel holes,im getting lucky on every corner..so then I put in 4 bolts and installed the rear trans support and new bushings and got all my linkage un-tucked

well, tomorrow ille be finishing up everything....
now, is there anything Im missing.....all 4 TC studs came through the flywheel and look even I even put in 4 bolt in the transmission to verify this(2 on each side) and then I will Install the rest of the bolts as well as install my filler tube since one of the bolts holds it in place and then I will install the 4 bolts that hold the TC in place. And then do I slide it and make shur it moves like 1/16th of an inch or something?, I will then do my starter and make shur the teeth are set properly then do my drive shaft ille also hook up TV and shift linkage then exhaust then hook up all sensors and then put in 2 gallons of gas since shes on fumes and then drop the car to the ground,or should I check the trans while it is on the jack stand in the air?
also I have 12 quarts of merc V and 2 already in the TC, what amount total does an 88 aod call for and once its all installed do I put in a quart or two or do I wait until its started to start filling it? or do I fill it as much as possible befor I start it?
Also, since im so new at trans work to set the tv linkage and stuff should I just take it to a trans shop and pay to have that done? and just check to see if I have all my selector gears like park neutral(which I lost) reverse( which I lost) and other onesbut not drive it and adjust the TV cable to the best of my ability but still take it in or should I risk setting it my self as it doesn't look hard but I don't have anything to check the trans pressure like you are sapose to,im shur I could pull out the cable lock it in place to eliminate slack blablabla and I even got a new bushing for it to lock it the trottlelinkage....my main worry for me setting it is its not going to be factory because I have a explorer intake with an aftermarket intake elbow that I doubt sits in the exact spot as stock did...

yes I tried and retried for 3 hours and 100 miles now to set my TV cable, I cannot...so if anyone lives close by lets come on by and help me out...
