Today I finally figured out why my battery kept dieing. The main wire from the alternator wasn't hooked up....duh. I hooked it up and the car started right away and after 2 minutes it turned off by itself. Now when I try to start it, It cranks but doesn't start. Anyone have an idea why it wont start now? The car started earlier in the day before I attached the wire because I charged the battery.

It has spark and I hear the pump priming. When I turn the car on auxiliary it acts strange. The lights fade in and the chime sounds strange for a second or 2.

New Battery and ground seem fine. Now the car dies when I touch the clutch.

more details.
how long has it been running? When you put it in gear? How does it start without you touching the clutch?

I put a new motor in a while ago and finally got it running. The car ran fine and I could drive it around but the battery kept dieing while driving after a while. I figured out that the main wire from the alternator wasn't connected to positive so it was not charging the battery. I connected the wire and it turned right on for a few minutes and then died. After that the car would just turn over and not start. I have spark and fuel pressure. I went back outside a little while later and now it wont even start. When I press down the clutch its almost like the car turns off electrically, the car does not turn on no matter what the position of the clutch is in.

still sounds like the battery cables are at fault.. Make sure there is no paint or dirt/grease under the connections.
I've seen corrosion inside the insulation on the pos batt cable causig so much resistance the car seemed to have a dead battery. If you have an ohm meter disconnect both ends of the cables and ck the resistance of the cable itself. If you don't have a meter, you could use a jumper cable ran parallel to the cable in question to see if the car will start then.

So after 2 days and about 50 tries it finally started up and it seems as if there's nothing wrong with anymore...I changed nothing. I drove it to a shop and I'm going to have them look at it. Thanks for your help!
