well I picked up my car Yesterday after the automatic install, retune, reallignment, pinion adjustment session.
half the delay was me being gone, so anyway I drove it home last night, tuned automatic and i LOVE it.

I was getting a harmontic vibration past 80mph and the idle surging was an issue. they got it tuned out and it idles much better, with some small surging for 10-20 seconds.
partly an issue with my overlapping cams, messes with the timing and the good old 96EEC is a PITA to adjust for that.
expired plates so I didn't speed like crazy, but I had to hit it once on the freeway. crusing at about 75, and a 300 kept riding my tail because I have a nice a*s.
no cops visable, room ahead, so I floored it. it kicked down into 3rd and the turbo wined loud for about 3 seconds. 120mph. very smooth.
SO I'd say that's a good first pull drivers test.

I really think shifting is overrated. Part of it is that I'm older and have shifted plenty. the other part I attribute to the stifness of my car's drivetrain. coilovers, torque arm, panhard.... there's no squish in the drivetrain. it was to choppy bumpy irritating to shift. you had to do it just right or the car would shake, annoying in traffic and all that jazz.
Now I did love dumping the clutch when I felt like it, but at over 500HP I think I can still get some smoke out of her.

my alignment was way off. I had it aligned by Ford in Phoenix last year, and the guy was an idiot. everything was off including my panhard adjustment. WTF!??
My tuner brock took care of all that stuff and didnt' charge me any extra. he rocks.

Life is busy, so I'm chipping away at this as time permits.
What I have letf to do is.
- remove console and remove nitrous controller, and check the plug for my OD button. it's not connected. reinstall and do something with the broken ash tray door.
- new deck
- adjust coilovers up 1/2" and see how that effects ride quality. suggested by MM.
- get new gauges and finish the mod to my center console.
- replace my alternator. it is putting out low voltage at idle and not consistant. it's one of the few stock parts left. so I'll probably get it rebuilt and keep the chromed housing.
- Install Trans cooler

and I'm sure there will be a bunch of fine tuning to the car and ilde ect.
she's still at 8# and will be turned up to 12# once I get a feel for her.
all in all, I should have kept it an auto from the beginning. as a turbo espically since it keeps the turbo loaded through the gears.

Good deal. Now finish the fastback so you can drive that.

Beat me to it.

I bet the auto is cool and all but park it, get out of the boat, and get the 67 running!

I also have Idle surges with my new cams? I love my auto for drag racing, just wish I had a stall. Did you get a high stall or tranny cooler?

I got a staul built for my power curve. no cooler yet, but it's on my list as well as a tranny temp gauge.

who did your converter and how does it feel. have you tested the foot stall speed yet?

who built the trans? auto or manual valvebody, transbrake, any of the good stuff?

sorry, i have no clue what you do with your car, so i figured i'd ask some details.

No Transbrake, Lentec street terminator valve body, calibration2

I had my friend who is the lead tranny tech at ford here build it for me following the Jmod spec.
here's the parts he used:

upgraded non-welded planetary and 4R75E planetary from an 08 5.4L truck
Sun gear from a 5.4
upgraded reverse drum with new style one way clutch
mechanical diode style one way clutch
upgraded 1-2 accumulator with bonded piston
upgraded 2-3 " "
EPC solenoid from a 4R75 / soldered terminals
Direct clutch seals changed to one piece teflon seals
added clutch plates so there are 7 plates on the direct clutch
new direct clutch drum
upgraded to 6 forward clutch plates
upgraded intermediate clutch to high HP friction material
upgraded OD band to high HP friction material
upgraded stub shaft
all seals replaced with newer/better

replaced 1-2 accumulator top spring and eliminated lower spring
eliminated 2-3 accumulator spring
upgraded OD servo piston (larger)
upgraded OD servo return spring to larger
set pump end play
installed Lentec valve body
tested and reinstalled shift and lock-up solonoids

Thread on it if u want more info.

the convertor was built by a custom shop, requested by my buddy at ford so I could get it at cost.
Yep, there's a 100%+ increase in those things.

I had my car dyno'd as a manual, and set the stall speed where the torque curve ramps up. was 2700 on my setup.
it's a fairly complex thing. the rating isn't actually the rpm, and they consider load and a bunch of other stuff.

Very nice jeff. Shifting is great for turning. If your just cruising/enjoying the ride and going straight in a fast line, auto is always a good thing. Glad it worked out well.

I dunno Steven, after driving my car on the road course as a manual and automatic, I dont think it makes that much difference.
especially considering that my valve body is also manual shifting, I can hold the gears or bump it up when I want.

That's great man, I can understand the age and wanting an auto. When I'm in traffic I so miss driving an auto sometimes.
