Front end seems too high

I have been working on my car this weekend. I am installing a new rack, hoses, and power steering pump. The rack is leaking and pump is squealing. I bought the car from a guy who used to race at Rockingham and Darlington quite a bit. He had a guy from Holcombe Motorsports build the new engine. The engine has 2000 miles on it and the car has 60,000 miles on it. Due to the economy he had to sell some of his toys and so I bought the car.

The front end of the car is quite high. Instead of lowering it, it seems like it has been raised. The guy that I bought it from said that he did not raise it, but the other guy that he used to race with might have, for some reason.

Questions: Is there any reason why someone would raise the front end? If so, why?

Do you think that it is too high?

It looks like it sits the way it sits because of the tall tire, 4x4 stance and looks like you have stock suspension now if u actually did lowere it it should sit lower.

That sounds really good!

Looks like stock height. I've seen some that were higher sadly, you could also have some drag springs installed as they don't really lower much if any.

Thanks Guys!

I installed my new power steering pump and pulley today. I am waiting on my high pressure hose to get here and then I can install my new rack and tie rod ends. The only thing that I didn't replace is my steering shaft.

Nick95GT,

The engine and transmission was built from the ground up. I am going to get a materials list from the guy who built it soon. What I do know: H-pipe, BBK Headers, no cats, racing pistons, cam, heads, rockers, valves, 373 gears, wheels and new tires.

It has a regular coil. The cooling system was full of trash since the car was sitting for quite a while and I think that they put well water in it. The water looked really bad.

I installed new timing cover due to hole in water jacket, radiator, water pump, idler pulley, belt, thermostat, battery, rack and pinion, power steering pump, hoses, tie rod ends, replaced burned out lights, replaced bad looking wiring, touched up paint in several places, replaced front parking brake cable, etc.

Geeze, that is one seriously agressive cam setup.... Poor thing sounded like it wanted to die every time it loped over.

Are the front springs really bouncy? Could potentially be some kind of 4cylendar fox spring or something, I know that is a pretty popular spring in the racing crowd. Otherwise, I'd say it's probably just the stock springs along with the tall sidewalls sort of an optical illusion.

After looking a a bunch of other SN95's, it seems that the front end is about right for factory parts. It must just be the tall front tires that makes it look that way.

Thanks!

when I was stock suspension I added 03-04 front LCAs when my ball joints went bad. the front became noticeably higher. many other people report this same concern when using these front LCA.

edit: see sig. pic is from that time frame
