Another part that was used and abused by the previous owner*cough*brother*cough* and the front rotors are warped so bad and scorched that the car's steering wheel vibrates hardcore when stopping. Anyways Im looking at getting decent brake rotors to replace the stock ones, and found these ones on ebay and was wondering the they alright or crap. If crap, suggest me some good ones good for street driving, and good enough for the going to the strip 1-4 times a year...

Any brakes will stop you at the dragstrip. You don't need anything fancy for that.

Whatever was stock with the car in 1994 is still on there, they have been changed MAYBE once, so i don't think I have the 13" ones, so basically anything that will fit my car without changing calipers/pads is what im going for.

I asked cause the rotors you are looking at on the Link are 13" for cobra brakes.and the stock calipers can only hold 11.65" rotors.

Ok

Stock front brakes are 11.65 gt and v6

Stock fronts on cobras are 13"

i got my 13" kit for $560 shipped and it include the following items

13" brembo rotors
SS brake lines
10 anni calipers

in order to get 13" brakes on your car you need the calipers, pads and rotors of course.you could use the stock brake lines but IMO you should upgrade while you are there.

Brakes are SOOOO often overlooked when it comes to upgrading stuff. Stock brakes really suck. Cobras are the way to go if you can afford it. AND you need to have 17" wheels to put em on.

However there ARE ways to improve the stock brakes. Get a good set of rotors. Brembos are very good rotors. Next to that would be Ford rotors. The problem with ebay rotors or Autozone cheepies is that they are cheeper metal and will warp sooner. You also need to get a good set of pads. Dont skimp on pads. If you go with auto parts store brand, get the top end semi metallic. Ceramics are for racing or trucks hauling heavy loads. They dont fade like regular pads. But they dont have as good of gripping power. And lastly calipers. Any old rebuilt will do. HOWEVER, you can upgrade to 99-04 dual piston calipers with just a small mod to the spindle. You can do these brakes for about half of the cost of Cobras. But you cant be the looks of em!

I just got the Dual Piston PBR Calipers with some new pads. We have this horrible shitty single piston and the new Dual Piston is a huge improvement. I think i will be very pleased when i put them on. :)

I would just upgrade to the Dual Piston PBR Calipers.... Very easy to do and also you get a dual piston and keep the same rotor... I would be very weary of 4 rotors for 140... That just seems to cheap to me.

+1

The 99-2004 Mustang GT PBR Dual Piston Caliper upgrade is a major improvement and is a world of difference.

I did it, half the price of a Cobra upgrade and stops excellent.

here you go http://forums.corral.net/forums/showthread.php?t=991576

something to really think about.i was gonna do this but, i decided not to beacuse i really like the Fancy Red 10 ANNI. calipers.

Everyone says stock brakes suck like you're gonna hit someone if you don't run out and buy Cobra brakes. I drive a damn Fox and manage to make it through 20 miles of city traffic everyday without coming near hitting anyone, watch where the hell you're going and quite trying to zoom through traffic like your Dale Jarrett and you'll be fine.

At any rate, for the time being, low dollar, to get back to a solid square one before upgrading, just go to Autozone and get a pair of new rotors, and loaded calipers.

J C Whitney actually has great drilled/slotted rotors for stock fronts.

Had them on the '89 and on the '96 both.

Reasonable cost.

FYI

Brembo discounted the drilled/slotted rotors the reason behind it, was the rotors were cracking at the drilled spots

one more of the reasons why i didnt get slotted/drilled rotors they do look good tho.

In my case that wasnt far from the truth. At highway speeds if I had to do an emergency stop, the brakes would glaze over in a nano second and I had squat for control. The anti lock wouldnt even kick in no matter how hard I pressed. The rotors were toast and the guy I bought the car from had put on the cheapest crap out there. When I finally did change the brakes, one of the brake pads and warped and separated from the friction surface. Bout wrecked the car twice.

Now I can lock em up with little effort and the anitlock does a great job of hauling it down. But what we are saying is that to IMPROVE your brakes you DONT have to buy Cobras. 99-04 dual pistons are a great alternative.

They become another maintenance item...gotta keep an eye on them if you really use them
